No offense to the designer but I don't think this type of course belongs on this tour. Completely unrealistic greens. Bordering on a 'fantasy' course. I dont have the time to do a dozen practice rounds on this one - WD I think the greens, as far as design and slope go, reflect the real world pro tour very well. Those guys on tour don't get flat greens or cups always in a nice little flat square... hell, neither do the ladies. Watch the real Valero tomorrow, not much flat going on in San Antonio lol This isnt the Valero - that was last week and I don't think those greens were nearly as bad as these. To me it seems like the elevation tool was spammed around these concrete greens just to make to make them 'hard'. Ive played roughly 100 tracks IRL including a few US Open courses and ive never seen dance floors like the ones here at Fire Rock.

How often do you see a guy on tour aim 10 feet left for a 15 foot putt? Never. I had to do that multiple times this week.

Never say never........
I remember Bubba curling a ridiculous putt last year as well. It happens more often than you think. Are people not paying attention to real golf these days? I mentioned Valero because that is the present real golf stop this week. Round 4 tomorrow, check it out then come back and tell me what you thought of the greens and the slopes.
The speed thing is different conversation because it is a video game setting in GNCD. But the course is supposed to have medium firmness. The balls I couldn't get to stay on the green were bad shots by me, not by bad design. We can't be blaming the courses all the time, sometimes it is the user not attacking the green appropriately.
So take a look at the video.. "never" doesn't exist when you've been "better than most".

and I should add, in a video game, all of us are better than most in real life

I never did it before - but I'm wind waiting here now. Just doubled the first due to unreachable conditions with the wind

Sorry - but there is almost no way to double a hole due only to it being unreachable. Without poor execution in there a bogey is the worst you should expect under most conditions. Can't imagine you were hitting good shots and still didn't reach in three shots?

Can't imagine you were hitting good shots and still didn't reach in three shots? couldn't reach in 2, was left....due to shitty hole placement/rough lie couldnt get close. 10 foot sidewinder for par... lip out, took the slope and missed 10 footer coming back for bogey. Yea, shitty shots. But shittier conditions/pin placement/slope

We get moaning when the conditions are firm, we get moaning when the conditions like this week are medium, seems unless the course is a birdie fest, we are going to get a lot of moaning about the course.
I think the PGA tour should be reserved for the most challenging courses, with the hardest conditions, where the best of the best go to compete. Just that simple, I hope TGCTours head in that direction as well.
If you do not like challenging courses with challenging conditions and competing against the best players, I hear Sally is looking for a game.

Double breaking fast bender. I love it. This still doesn't change my stance that I believe 99% of holes on your would not be near a red or yellow slope. And I watch a lot of televised golf. Make a fast moving green slope in game, thoes things alone move the ball from side to side quite a lot.

Moaning when there are holes like 1 and 8 where it's better to miss the green completely and play for a chip and a putt. I have no problem with the rest of the course (save for a couple holes where if the wind is above 10 and in your face, you can reach the tier the pin is on) and think its a fair test

Risk/reward. That first green you can go right at the pin but you risk a lot of trouble. If you go left of the pin you have a longer putt but it's uphill and fairly straight. Sometimes you have to aim for par and you may get birdie. And if you aim for birdie you may get bogey or worse. I love this course because it will burn a lot of the pin seekers.

I just cannot fathom having a problem with those holes. they are total need to plan your shot and make the shot, both offer safe pars but punish the slightly missed shot trying to chew your way to an easy birdie. They are both for that reason absolutely perfect, intelligently designed holes.

There's a big difference between challenging greens and completely unrealistic ones. Fact of the matter is we have a large handful of people here with thousands of hours put into the game who destroy any course put in front of them. Personally, i dont have that sort of time commitment available, ill be lucky if i have the time for one practice round. The course designer has already messaged me and said that he was told to make the greens harder. And I'm not knocking his course, i think it is quite nice and he obviously spent a good deal of time on it. Ill probably be asking for a demotion or leave the league altogether if this going to be norm. When its becomes no fun, i stop playing.

I figured 8 out and played it -2 for the week. Found a way to put it a foot away in Rd 4. Still had to play left edge putt, hahaha. Made a crazy putt for the other birdie. Must have aimed my 10 footer 15+ ft left. I'm not happy with my overall results, but this was a great test before the masters.

There's a 2 foot window to have a legit chance at birdie. If you miss it long and left, you bring in bogey with the way the slope runs to the right and takes you off the green (or close to it). you miss short and again you bring in double with the false front. Long and right and you have to leave the putt short or you're running off the green. I am currently sitting 209 yards away with a 14 mph wind in my face. I don't see any "reward" available
