When you send out invites, people have to actually register. Are you going to have an alternate list of lets say 91-100 WGR that if any of the people invited that don't register they will get their chance to play? I remember a guy named John Daly was the last alternate in a certain PGA Championship and won it a while back.

Invite only events are usually automatic registration aren't they?
The WGC was anyway....

Ah. Well considering I haven't played in an invite tourney yet, I didn't know. This would make it more difficult to have an alternate list for sure then. Oh well!

Yeah fwiw I think if an event is top 90 WGR then even if 8 withdraw, no one below that threshold should be invited as they haven't met the criteria.
This coming from someone who will be in and around that 90 mark!

I feel as the event shouldn't be automatic registration and there should be an alternate list. For obvious reasons people in real life always try to play these events but if for some reason they cannot then someone else gets their chance at it. It only makes sense to replicate the circumstances in TGCT as well.

If that's what happens in RL then fair dues, I didn't realise that and I agree that would be the way to go

On the PGA tour there is always an alternate list in case someone like Tiger has to withdraw. They want to have a max field with 3 or foursomes on the first two days. If a bunch of people withdrew it would skew the pairings and cause delays as some groups would play faster than others.

The Masters doesn't have an alternate list.

The Masters doesn't have an alternate list. Good point. I'm not sure where I stand on this anymore. :/

While that is true, the Masters is unique in that while there is qualifying material that leads to invites, it is still technically an invitational tournament. And the Masters Tournament Committee reserves the right to invite international players to the tournament. One can assume that they use this to fill out the field should 'qualifier invites' not be accepted. Since fair play would likely prevent TGC Tours from hand picking players to fill out the field, an alternate list would be a seemingly good compromise to accomplishing something similar.
It's all theoretical of course, and really only factors in should invitees not accept. But since this is a video game and not our real life careers, it's possible that there are some invitees that may no longer be playing the game, or are on vacation, etc, and wouldn't have the opportunity to participate.

That sounds good (to me). Just had the newsletter in my inbox, and it seems they have something like this in mind anyway: There will be up to 5 Tournament Director Sponsor Exemptions to be used at the discretion of the TD.

Yeah be interesting to be a fly on the wall during these discussions. Hopefully after this week's performance I won't have to worry about making it
