Hi guys,
I"m having a problem with a course file in 2K21, I have moved a blank course file into the courses folder on my pc to test if it was about the blank course file. The blank course turned up in the unpublished courses section on 2K21, so no problem there. I have mapped out a course on OSM and processed it with Chad's tool and because the course has no Lidar I hit (Make flat course from OSM file). The course file is not showing up in the unpublished courses, Does anyone have an idea what I've done wrong here.
Thanks

Congrats! You're the first one to make this attempt! As many know, the lidar tool is unofficial and was never supported/acknowledged/appreciated by HB. Very black sheep. I don't own 2K21 and, at this time, I'm not planning on updating the tool to support 2K21. The good news is that the tool is fully open source! Anyone has the ability to update to work with 2K21! github.com/chadrockey/TGC-Designer-ToolsSo at this time, I'd recommend Using TGC 2019 to complete all lidar terrain and OSM features. Then importing into 2K21 and finish designing there. You might run into other surprises or be completely blocked. No one knows at this point.

I know it's been mentioned by plenty of people already but I'll post it again here anyway just in case SwoopingMagpie hadn't seen any of those previous posts . I can confirm that lidar courses seem to port fine from 2019 to 2k21, so for now at least Chad's suggestion is the best way to do it.

Found a slightly better workaround, albeit still a workaround. The tool works just fine, but for some reason the template course created from the new game does not work with the tool. If you have a template from the old game, use the tool and then add to the folder for the new game. Just tested and it works.
Edit: Here is why I think its a better workaround than uploading fully into 2019. We could upload a "template.course" file from 2019 to the website. Users could then use that in conjunction with Chad's tool to import the LIDAR. Then they can save the course in the folder for 2k21. This would eliminate the need for the user having 2019. Not sure about the legality around sharing the template.course file

Thanks guys for getting back to me so fast, I don't own 2019 on PC so I'm kind of stuck there. I have no lidar courses and bought 2K21 so I could give it a try. So for now, I'll have to just enjoy the game. Thanks again all of you.

Let me know which theme you want.

I dropped my Black Creek Club WIP file straight into 2k21 with no issues.
Have you not copied / pasted the course file into your 2k21 courses folder?I don't have any experience with using 'flat' files from his tool, though, only ones combined with LiDAR data.

From my testing, that is the only way it works currently (without uploading to the server and then downloading in new game).
I did some more testing for EliteInsect and the .course file created from the tool needs to be opened and saved in 2019 before 2k21 will recognize. The 2019 game must save it in a format that 2k21 will recognize whereas the tool is not currently able.

So guys, I don't have 2019 on PC, so if I send someone the OSM map file I have via E-mail. Then that person runs (Make flat course from OSM file) and then places it in 2019, saves it and then sends me the file back that should work.
Is anyone willing to do this for me?? send me a message with your e-mail and I'll send the OSM file.

Interesting, so it only works if the file was opened in TGC19 first? even if it's just for 3 seconds as long as you save it once?

Interesting, so it only works if the file was opened in TGC19 first? even if it's just for 3 seconds as long as you save it once? Yep! If I load the file into the 2K21 folder, nothing is recognized. But if I add do TGC19 folder first, open in the game and immediately save it, I can then move it to the folder for 2K21. Something from the old game normalizes the file type for the new game to see.
That said - I have absolutely no idea what causes that. Nor do I understand enough to update the open source tool. But at least we have a workaround because the tool is VERY handy.

That's the answer. Just found it to be the case today: Save once in TGC19, then pop it into 2k21

Does anyone know if it's possible to import an unpublished course into the PC version but then continue the design on console (PS4)?
