Same thing happened to me!! Doesn't seem right to land on the green only to get an OB penalty...HMMM?? Don't hit it there next time. Perhaps if I knew the light rough in front of the OB stakes that are in mulch is actually OB I’d have been more conscious of missing right. All it takes is a Slow swing to land on the green and be OB.

mayday_golf83 and I have opened a PO Box for all of the hate mail we will get next week. Simple critiques aren’t allowed?

That OB has been there since the TGC19 version. Nothing has changed in that regard. Hole runs along side a road and it's OB if you end up against/near the hedges. Like I said I get the Road hole stuff. But the ball rolled off the green and ended on light rough. The OB stakes are on the line of the mulch. I know how the OB area isn’t perfect, as in it doesn’t allow you to draw a smooth line. So maybe I was unlucky that a small part of light rough was zoned as OB? Or is the entire area off the green OB?

Mike, you can check the OB lines in the caddie book. I saw Vctry mention this in a stream the other day that some of the OB marking got into the light rough in front of the stakes. Let the carnage ensue!

Hi Mike, your critique is valid and I was only joking with my sarcastic comment. Unfortunately, putting down OB in the designer is like trying to water a sapling with a firehose... despite how careful you are, you're bound to kill it. HB didn't really provide very exacting tools, so even if it appears in the designer like the OB is in the right spot, it's easy for it to "bleed" into areas that shouldn't be OB. I've seen this happen on many, many courses (Hallstatt Golf Club to be fair), no matter how best intentioned the designers are. Again, no offense taken to your comments. I'm fully aware that we will have many, many people pissed off at us next week if this happens to them. The alternative is to be hitting from up against the stands, with a blocked view, and people would be pissed about that too.

Just a beautiful course to play on. A privilege. Thank you. Hope we see it early in the new game. So, this is your fault??!!!!
I've bought myself a little bit of breathing room at Whiskey Dunes and am looking forward to the challenge! Either that or I will be hunting Eric down...

I think it's fair to say Jamie that this qualifying version is a different beast altogether - plus I had some control over the ball when I wrote this

I think it's fair to say Jamie that this qualifying version is a different beast altogether - plus I had some control over the ball when I wrote this Funny thing is the course itself hasn't really changed any from TGC19, just that the likelihood of being offline is so much greater in this game. Take OB on 14 for example. Nobody batted an eye in 19, but it would have taken some sort of tempo roulette to get that miss right of the green. Now it's very much in play with poor execution or line that was too aggressive.

Agreed on that fact that you do NOT want to mess with the right side of 14. It's a bad time.

Didn't even realise there was OB on that hole... now you've planted it in my mind I know exactly where this is going to lead during qualifying round 2.
Small tip for OB is to use the sharp kidney shaped brush small to medium size, zoom out a bit and spam plant it whilst moving the thumbstick. It's much, much more accurate and tidy when drawing a specific line.

Played this before work today and had a great time. Really enjoyed the entire look and play of the course. I too found the OB rough on the road hole but I didn’t find it unfair. I felt the closing holes were really strong. Great job !

It's a tough green even without OB down the slope.

i also managed to find the OB on my first practice round, rolled very slowly off the green when i noticed the white sticks, and for about a second i was happy when it got caught by the light rough well within the sticks(well 20cm or so but thats miles lol), then the dreaded message came up on the screen. second round i almost holed the approach so alls forgiven (and i know very well how hard that OB is to place(and agree that some of the rounded brushes are safest to use in my limited experience) so no hard feelings unless i hit it OB during the Q rounds(probably will) I do expect that particular spot will be a hot topic come next week.
