First off, I just want to say that there are so many creative designers in this forum, every course that gets posted just amazes me on the talent people have in designing!
With that being said, my second course Crosby Hills is completed. This was originally intended for the CC competition, but I could not complete it in time.
My first course, The Links at Abercorn, was completed in the first part of April.
Crosby Hills was designed with a countryside theme, with some Heathland style in mind, on a old farm somewhere in Wisconsin. My original idea was just to have all grasses, but I feel it's hard in the designer to get that look, kinda wish they had a fescue theme.
The Story:
Old Tom Crosby and his golfing buddies were out one night, enjoying a cold Old Milwaukee beer at the local drinking establishment, when old Tom spoke up and asked if anybody was interested in building a golf course. Of course everybody laughed, and told Tom to keep drinking, you'll forget about this dream in the morning. Well old Tom being a persistent type, started drawing up some holes on some napkins that were present at the bar table and he kept showing them to his buddies, Tom's buddies kept laughing, Tom left that night with 7 holes drawn on some bar napkins. The next day Tom contacted a golf course architect and told him that he had some land that he was not farming on anymore, and I would like to build a golf course. The course broke ground in May of 1990 and was completed and ready for play in May of 1993. The architect did do the most of the designing, but he did take Tom's 7 napkin drawing and implement them into the design of the golf course. As for Tom's buddies, the are welcome anytime at Crosby Hills, for a small green fee of $95.00.
Hope you enjoy your round of golf at Crosby Hills!
