Anyone else picked this up yet? I'm a huge fan of the series, and sport, so it was a no-brainer buy for me (once I determined it could run on my PC). I've started up the "My Team" mode at 25% length (my standard), AI at 90 (which is where I start every new game while I get a feel for it) - which is going up to 95 for the next race, then hopefully I'll be able to get up to the 103-105 I was racing against in '19 after that - my usual no assists other than corner race line, and have gotten through China so far. Had a sound bit of advice from KenTremendous when last years game came out, suggesting that I wait until car updates come through before starting my "official" career/series, so I'm holding off on that for the time being (plus the my team thing is really pretty cool). I think there should be plenty of movement in the irl car performances given the fact that Ferrari is rated the strongest engine (lulz) and team Ferrari is basically the 2nd strongest behind Merc...so they botched that one a bit! Love the new ERS deployment functionality, was never able to keep up with switch it 3+times every damn corner in 2019, that was just dumb, and the new system mimic's irl a more accurately too, really a big fan of that improvement. The overtake "button" is pretty damn powerful, though, maybe a bit too overpowered, but I'd still take that system over the old one any day of the week.
Finding a good "base" setup is super important imo, the car started feeling a LOT more stable once I got a decent base down. For me, it's a must to have more downforce on the rear wing than front, by a good amount. I think my "base" is something like 4-9, believe I ran 3-6 at Vietnam in round 2, and am trying out something around 6-9 for my next race in the Netherlands - btw, I've found the 2 new tracks really quite fun. Obviously the other settings are hugely important, too, but I'm far from an "expert" in any of this so...take with a grain of salt, I suppose. My best "tip" that I don't think is sharing anything most don't already know relates to the toe/camber, on and off diff, brake, and tire pressure settings. If you haven't tried these yet, I highly advise at least testing the following:
- On the toe/camber settings page, have the top 2 all the way right, and the bottom 2 all the way left.
- On-throttle diff at 50%, off diff at 55-65% (depending on track and feel)
- 100% brake pressure (big change from '19) with 50-52% diff
- Much lower tire pressures than previous games (I'm usually as low as possible on the rear, a click or two up on fronts, but always have rear softer by at least 1 click).
Have run a few online races, including the "event" race yesterday, and of course there are still jackass sore losers who take you out when you're quicker than they are and they can't race you straight up - but that's always the case. Anyway, just wondering if anyone else has dove into the game and is enjoying it as I am, or has found some other tips, etc.
