HI all
Just released my first course, Rockliffe Hall (RCR). Just been approved for the tour which is great. Would love some feedback from the community on planting and general sculpting.
Part of the Rockliffe Hall estate near Darlington in the North East of England. Boasts a 5* hotel and spa and shares the site with the Middlesbrough FC training complex.
Designed by Hawtree, the world-renowned course architects, Rockliffe Hall’s 18 hole championship golf course is one of the most challenging and longest in Europe. While its full 7,977 yards from the back tees will give even the best professional tour golfer a stern test, most will find the five individual tee boxes on each hole a welcome addition, offering players of all abilities the chance to experience the challenge. A parkland course but with links features with extensive long fescue grasses away from the beautifully manicured fairways and rough.

It will be interesting to play this I’ve had a Lidar version of this on my drive for about four months. I’ve been doing other projects is this course made using Lidar. I was a course marshal at Rockliffe for four months back in 2016 so I have a pretty good knowledge of the course. Is it in the database as Rockliffe. Do you live near Darlington I live 13 miles away in West Auckland

Nice greenswork, and played well - but I imagine the real course is visually more interesting. Beginners clubs players will likely shout in the 50s here, as with most wide open, flatter courses.

The course itself is fine he’s done a pretty good job of it but the outsides of the course could have been done better and the clubhouse on the real course is pretty unique so just dropping in what he has as a clubhouse looks pretty poor. I worked as a course marshal on the course for 4 months a few years ago and I was all over the course so I have a fair idea what the views should look like.

Thanks for the feedback. I think that the course itself is pretty-much spot on in terms of recreating the overall feel. It is pretty wide-open and relatively long, particularly from the tips and it's somewhere that good players tend to find pretty straight-forward to play.
Completely agree on the clubhouse and outside areas. As this was the first time I've done a course I wasn't really sure how to build a clubhouse (and the hotel in the background) to make it feel less 'stock'. Les is absolutely right that the clubhouse is really unusual and blends really nicely into a hill-side.
Thanks again for having a look - really appreciate the feedback.

I’m probably going to wait until the new game to finish my version off see if they put some new clubhouses in the designer. Leecey do you live near me I’m about 15 miles from Darlington

I'm a member at Blackwell just down the road - can't quite stretch to a membership at Rockliffe!

Have you considered doing the old Blackwell course it would be good to do seeing as it no longer exists, I think you can still see the holes on openstreetmap and there is 2016 Lidar data available. Aye Rockliffe is a tad expensive 🤣🤣 Edit: if your interested I’ve done Bishop Auckland GC, Seaton Carew Lidar and Hartlepool GC two versions.

Great course in real life and thought you'd captured it really well on the game. I'd never played the old Blackwell so would probably find it difficult to recreate without some level of knowledge of layout and feel. Not sure if anyone's done Slayley Hall yet but might have a look at that at some point.

I’ve currently got a file for Romanby Golf Club on my PC but haven’t done much with it, put the water in so far. I’ve only played the course once so I’m relying on flyovers or google earth.
