I've only designed a couple of courses, but I tend to design holes that would be able to be played in real life. The sort of things I include are paths from the tees to fairways and from greens. Slopes that you could still walk up and surfaces that the greenkeepers would have to bend gravity to mow. But over the weekend I've played some courses that in real life you would need a mountaineering climbing kit, or a teleporter to get from the tee to the green. Or a weed whacker to walk to the fairway from the tee.
Now I like fantasy courses and the fun and challenges they bring, but think that there should be another teir to include a fantasy courses tour? And keep the main tours to realistic courses?
Just wondered what others feel like?

So, it's a fantasy design for you if there's no visible walking path to the fairway?

No I'm not saying it's just the paths, but someone who.gives video tips said that if it can't happen in real life then it shouldn't go into a course designed here.
Please don't get me wrong, some of the 'non realistic / fantasy courses' are superb and very highly enjoyable to play, so much so I was wondering if they should have their own teir in the tournaments.

I prefer hole design and enjoyment of the course over how the course looks walking off the green to the next tee.

3 categories. Fantasy courses, resort courses and tour courses.
