This is the first official course completed by NextGen Golf Design. Windstone is set on a remote, windswept plot of land on the coast of New Zealand. It's gifted with perfect sandy soil, seaside dunes, and rolling undulations which create a great atmosphere for golf. The routing will take you from the highest point on the property (the 1st green), down to the dunes along the beach, up to the largest sand dune on the site, you'll climb and play a few holes on a higher plateau, before playing two more holes among the dunes, then finishing back in the middle of the property in front of the minimalist, self-sustaining clubhouse. The course was designed to play with HIGH WINDS (see: WINDstone) and with FIRM TERRAIN conditions (greens can stay as default). That will give you the best overall experience when you play your round and PLEASE REMEMBER the Highlands theme glitch where you have to manually change the terrain to FIRM before teeing off. With all of that being said, I am not here to tell anyone how to play so feel free to try it under other conditions as well! I'm really excited to release Windstone and enter it into my first contest. It's been really fun bringing this project to life and I really hope everyone enjoys playing!

This course is a blast to play, and has a solid environment. Texture work and planting was on point. I really enjoyed the mixing of coastal dunes and woodlands. Really good entry into this contest!

Finally got around to playing this. It did not disappoint! Very nice work and deserving of this little bump.

Been away from the game for a bit but wanted to get around to saying thanks to @babybull, jwtexan, and 15eicheltower9 for giving it a play and for the posts. @babybull Thanks for the comments on the environment, textures, and planting as well as the mixing of the different areas. One of my goals with this project was to have a variety of landscapes to play through so I'm glad you liked that. 15eicheltower9 Happy to hear you weren't disappointed haha But seriously, thanks for the play and kind bump as well! jwtexan Glad you were following the WIP and I'd be curious to hear your thoughts about the course; both the good and the bad.

Loved the routing and the variety of inland holes along with views of the coast. The course had some long holes, but those were also some of the most open and receptive to different shots and I thought the course played beautifully for CC-level play. Good luck in the giant field, I think this one stands out for sure.

I played this last night and really enjoyed it. I forgot to change the fairway firmness to firm but I did play with high winds. This course has a really nice feel with the dunes and coast. I think this would be a really nice tournament course. I recorded my playthrough but I don’t add any commentary. Just thought it could be interesting to see someone play the course. Good luck in the competition.

A HUGE thanks to OldSouled, Matt F. Adamzick M, and Avakrac for playing my course on stream/youtube! It was really cool to see how others played the course and to hear what they liked and disliked about it. Also seeing it in different conditions was pretty interesting as well. It seemed to hold up pretty well in the low and very high winds and also on the soft fairway settings. Thanks again for playing and for posting your playthroughs on the course page! Avakrac: I'm very curious as to what weather and time of day settings you used because when I watched the play through it was not with the settings I originally set up. I watched the video back and on the screen prior to teeing off everything said default so I was very confused haha. This isn't a bad thing though because I thought it still looked great with the different sun angle and the clear skies.

I may have changed the lighting to have a look but can't remember sorry.
