Wood Duck Dunes was inspired by old photos of links where the courses where wild and not manicured. Back when course designers could do little to alter the land, but instead had to place pins where the land allowed. This is certainly no "St. Andrew's 18th century RCR", but that's what inspired me to get started with what became Wood Duck Dunes. I also wanted a course where the fairways felt extremely dry with tight turf. That's what led me to cut everything at green length. This allowed me to create some crazy pins, if there was a nice natural spot to put a pin I could throw one down (below is hole 14 as an example). I think you will have to play two different pin sets to understand how this dramatically changes holes (if you can stomach a second round!). So that's Wood Duck Dunes, I'm not expecting it to be to everyone's liking, but I'm confident some of you will have a lot of fun here.
Also, If you need a cool down between rounds, give "Wood Duck Backyard 13" a go. These are 13 short par 3's on top of the hill, around the clubhouse.
Let me know if you give the course a go, I am curious to see what you guys think of this extremely quirky design!

Thank you tpetro and jwtexan! I appreciate you keeping me going on the WIP thread as well. It made me confident that at least two people would like this idea!

Holy sh*@! That was a fun round! This course is not for everybody. If you like to calculate the outcome of your shots by using math, you will hate this course. This course says, "What is 13+0?.... WRONG!!! It's 5+5. What is 13+0?.... WRONG!!! It's 15-8. What is 13+0?... WRONG!!!..." However, if you are a terrible player like me, this course is for you. Your perfect tee shots will end up in the rough, and your crappy tee shots will roll 50+ extra yards to an absolute perfect position. Awesome environment(lighting, textures, sculpting, and planting). However, the thing that makes this course shine is the experience of playing it. I had an absolute blast! Great job! That is a round I will never forget.

I always love the creativity in your designs. This is a great idea that is executed very well. I've only played one pin so far but I can see how drastically the course could play looking at some of the other pin sites. Here's a video of one of my best hole outs ever, using the backboard as intended.

Oh yeah. This is looking awesome. If only we could play with mashies and persimmons.

Really fun round. Had a 450+ drive, hit 2 40 foot putts, hit 3 flops in a row that rolled back to my feet, but appreciated how I could think my around and play different shots.
Some spots reminded me a bit of chambers Bay. I really liked this. Like how you throw out any sort of "traditional rules" in the designer yet still make a great course.
Good luck in the comp.

What a hoot that round was! Super fun course to play! My round was highlighted by my 459, yes that’s four five niner, yard drive on ten and a chip in eagle on the other par five think it was 15 or 16. I had a blast great course and very creative idea.

Glad you enjoyed it! I don’t expect it will do too well in the contest, but in a field of 100 I wanted to try and make something that stood out.

bubbadave: Truthfully. Give me a 170 over a 135 any day.

sroel908: And as someone who's rangered/scheduled hundreds of courses, trying out a wide range of conditions, I can say with certainty that green speeds do have an impact and definitely matter.

sroel908: Green firmness is more about how the ball interacts with the putting surface when you hit an approach into it. A soft green is more receptive, and will allow more backspin than a firm one. A firm green will have less bite and more rollout.

meunier33: I have seen 135 greens that putt like they are 170. Therefore, we can conclude that green speed does not matter.

meunier33: Why isn't there a green firmness meter on the score bug? Green firmness matters much more than green speed.

meunier33: I still play this game like it was the game before 2K21. Up until this month I have never tried to change anything about how I play the game. It has made me worse trying to adapt also.

OldManGaming606: The biggest swing adjustment and best for competitive golf IMO, was 2k21 and addition of tempo.

Art Vandelay: each time the game has been issued (TGC, TGC2, TGC19, etc) the game play changes. Some more than others. You have to adapt. Or go away, like some have.

meunier33: EG the best swing used to be hard and low and not a high swing like it is now.

meunier33: Im finally figuring out what my problem is though. I play the game like it used to work 4 or 6 years ago and I have trouble adjusting to how it now plays

zooby97: Is that all meunier33 does is COMPLAIN? Will you please ditch the game so I don’t have to see the complaints anymore, wow!
