Hi all, I wanted to provide a preview of my WIP for the US Open design contest. It is called Cuyahoga Golf Club. I can't promise much beyond the following for this one: 1.) A conservative play off the tee will usually not allow you to hit an approach that leaves you a short putt for birdie. 2.) An aggressive play off the tee will often require a draw/fade to hit the fairway. 3.) If a player decides to hit a stock (straight, standard loft) shot into some pins, they will not hold the green, or stay near the pin. 4.) A ball that lands in the center of the fairway, without shot shaping (draw/fade/loft) will sometimes not end up in the fairway. 5.) Greens are at the fastest speed, med-firm. Landing the ball NEAR the hole, except for wedges, will often result in long putts, or missed greens. 6.) There are no putts that are not stoppable, but almost every putt can get away from you. 8.) All greens are holdable, but not all pins are. In order to secure a birdie putt, you will have play away from some pins, unless you feel dangerously aggressive. Number 1 Fairway- Number 11 Tee View- Number 11 Fairway View- This will actually be number 12 Green View- Number 13 Aerial View- Number 11 Green View- Number 18 Green View- This "used to be" a par 5 to the alternate green. The USGA came in an built the new green to make it a par 4 for championship play, and used the old green as a practice green ;D Looking back at number 1 fairway- Number 2 green/3 Tee- image uploadGood luck to all, and I look forward to seeing all the great courses that are created.

Sounds like another "Massacre at Winged Foot" Scenario if it wins!

Looking good and the brief sounds spot on... Some speedy work there! I'm yet to start but looking for similar criteria in terms of difficulty... Loving the emphasis on difficulty that comes with this comp

Point #2 on your list is something I would love to see more of in designing courses. Having to draw or fade the ball to get into a good position off of the tee requires a lot more skill and concentration than just smashing it straight (which everyone can pretty much do). This to me is the ideal way to make courses harder without making them unplayable. Looking forward to seeing this and hopefully all the other great courses being designed.

I have always done this with my courses but was criticized for doing so on my latest one
