If you have used controller on laptop before, the software should still be there, plug in controller. If not down load the Xbox controller software from Microsoft, install the software online: 1.Go to the Software Downloads section of the Microsoft Hardware website. 2.Select Gaming as the product type. 3.Select Xbox 360 Controller for Windows as the product. 4.Select the version of Microsoft Windows you are using on your computer, select your operating system language, and then click Download. 5.Click Run. 6.The Xbox 360 Accessories Setup program installs the necessary files to your computer. Note You might be prompted to restart your computer after the installation is complete.
Step 2: Connect the controller to your computer
After you install the software, plug your Xbox 360 wired controller’s USB connector into a USB 2.0 port on your computer.
Step 3: Test the controller
To test your Xbox 360 wired controller on your computer, follow these steps: 1.On your computer, click Start, type Run, type joy.cpl, and then press ENTER. 2.Select Xbox 360 Controller, and then click Properties. 3.Test your Xbox 360 wired controller by pressing a button, pulling a trigger or moving a stick on the controller. If the controller is functioning correctly, you will see the corresponding action light up in the application.
This copied and pasted from Microsoft website, if any trouble, Google Xbox controller for pc, will give all details.

you wouldn't know how to add a family member on steam so he can play my steam games would ya. Open steam settings menu, click on account tab, select, Manage my account with Steam Guard security option. Log onto steam on family members computer with your account, open settings, then family tab, then click on authorize the computer. Log out, let them log into their account and they should be able to download and play games in your library. You both can not play same game at same time though unless both own a copy of the game. So if your playing golf club, they can not.

should work if just plug into usb slot, if you have to configure mumble, just head to configure and audio wizard. Most headsets are simply plug and play so should work as soon as plug it in.
