Hi guys,
I was wondering if it would be worth while getting The Golf Club or maybe The Golf Club 2, because I have an older PC and I want to design of PC instead. If I was to get the older versions of the game can I still upload to TGC 2019 or is the database reserved for 2019 only. I will be getting a new laptop later this year, but was wondering if that would be with giving it a go just to get on PC rather than PS4.
Thanks to anyone who provides a good answer!!

Each new game, you can import published courses from the previous game (not games).....
So if you have TGC2019, then you can import TGC2 courses - but not TGC1 (unless you import from TGC1 to TGC2 first and then from 2 to 19)
However - there are small (and some big) differences in the designer in all three games - so most courses from the older games will still need some 'touching up' / re-doing on TGC19 to make them exactly right. Plus there are features in the TGC19 designer which make it much easier / better to use (second surface for example) that weren't there in the previous versions.
Is there a demo of TGC19 on Steam? If so - why not download that on your current PC and see how it works. I don't think the system requirements have changed much (if at all) between the three games - so 19 will probably run just as well as the other games anyway.

I do not believe that getting an older game would be worth it, unless you plan to PLAY the old game. 1. The performance and resource demands of all three games are similar. You're not going to see significant improvement by getting older software. 2. Courses published in an earlier game are not automatically available on the newest game. 3. There are important differences in the course designer between games. Any course being ported from one game to the next will require at least some fixing. The most glaring example is that, if you use splines to construct fairways and greens, the method of laying down the splines is very different. In TGC2, spline points should be placed far apart to reduce the number of potential "kinks" that need to be fixed. For TGC2019, HB made a change that resolves the kinked-spline issue, but that change altered the behavior of the spline segments. In TGC2019, spline points should be kept in close proximity to reduce the straight-line length of any segment. 4. TGC2 doesn't have auto-fill splines. TGC1 doesnt have splines at all. 5. Only TGC2019 courses are eligible to be added to the TGCTours database for consideration for use on Tour. Of course, in Season 7, expect TGC2019 courses to be obsolete and that PGA2K21 be required.

Thanks for that. I’ll wait and get 2K21 for my new laptop. 👍🏻
