Has there ever been any discussion about any design comps that require the contestants to work only in one predetermined theme? Not to detract from any of the more recent comp courses(they’re all really really good), but it seems to me that there’s only a few themes that are used and most of the others go pretty much ignored. I know that some themes are easier/ more versatile to work with then others but I’d really like to see what the best designers could come up with using some of the less popular themes. Just a thought 🤔😉

The very first Challenge Circuit design contest was set up this way (it was called the CC Summer Showdown back then). The person who organized it was the CC scheduler at the time and he was having a hard time finding quality courses in certain themes.
The themes used were: Rustic, Delta, Desert and Countryside.

Yeah this was more just a “fun” idea not really a serious comp. If we could get maybe 8 - 12 guys together and pick a theme we all feel a little uncomfortable with I think it could make for a good challenge for some of the top designers. My only stipulation would be no winter theme. Never really understood why anyone ever thought that one was a good idea🤔.

Winter is my favorite theme. It's also not included in TGC2019 (RIP).
