Maybe could be a bit more decisive on the approach shots by upping the undulations a bit? Hit the spot or get kicked the wrong way?
I liked the fairway to heavy rough as it provides a direct penalty. I think if using light rough it might be good to make sure it does not act as a "safety net" for wayward drives. Really like the "birdie hole" idea Reebdog - the real US Open has them and its a great way to "even out" a brutal course and leave players some breathing room.

Good effort thus far Taste. I got off to a woeful start with my first 3 shots finding the heavy and settling for a bogey. Got it to -2 as I headed to the 9th before a waterball on my 3rd into 9 and took double there. Felt the severe downhill par 3 was a little off putting but I've followed your thread and it is in the vein of the course but just seemed out there from the rest of course. It just felt a little fantasy for me for some reason. I liked the lack of a first cut rough and might do the same on my track too purely for a major style course only tho and might sway the same way for my entry (I've gone for around half a yd. collar of rough purely for a visual bit it looks fine going straight from fairway to heavy and I never tried it out so good work there and it definately makes you think about your drives a lot more as you'd hate to just drift off into it as it leaves you no chance of a recovery to the green on most shots I would imagine and in this gaming environment I think that's ok and fair. Keen to see how the back 9 progresses and at this rate you'll be done and dusted with the layout by the end of next week and will just be fine tuning I gather up until submission time so it should be a ripper track by then. Good work on creating a WIP thread to.... The feedback you get will only further enhance your course if you take some of it onboard.... Well done mate.

Beta USOC I think yup, beta usoc 1.0 is the name, but when i tried searching for it with its direct name nothing showed up, so try beta or usoc or 1.0 or something, or just find a list of my courses by clicking on one of my previous courses.

Yeah played it again mate and was -4 through 9. Think you'll need to up the firmness and speed as it should feel more like bison this week for a major. Not sure what Ddawg set the sliders at but maybe ask him and try it out. Plays nice tho mate

front 9 does have 3 par 5's, thats 3 under given to you if you just manage the holes good, then hole 2 is considered a "birdie" hole as its well under 400 yards.
back nine will be much much harder, 3 par 3's, only 1 par 5, and 4 par 4's. it is set up so you get the bulk of your scoring in the front nine.
with that said, i still will be tinkering with the green speed, perhaps run a test with it about 30% higher and maxed out, to see if there is much of a difference.

The first hole is pretty tame. It's a 1 bar draw to the centre of fairway and a baby draw 5 wood to the pin. Should have eagled it and the 2nds length is fine and design I like just maybe make the green tougher but really think it's just the sliders are to benign mate. I 130yd shot on bisons is still a test on TGCT this week. Holes 3,4,5 are terrific (will be with speed and firmness increased), hole 6 is my fav. Love the choice of placement with your drive and 2nd shot is good. Hole 7 is a beast right now and think green will have to be flattened slightly with increased speed/firmness. Hole 8 I've mentioned, just seems a lil fantasy but plays well. And hole 9 I would prob extend the tee shot by 20yds so the cut over the hill isn't automatic in benign conditions. Not a real advantage of knocking it over there as I only played the hole both times over there but just feel should need a tail wind to get there and with that will bring that bunker on the far side right into calculations to. Apart from that hole 9 is a ripper. Doin good mate. Play my beta on Growling Frog. Designing it for a tour stop to somewhere along the line. Test version is GFGCC#, not sure if you've given it a run yet but would value some feedback too.

I'll give it a shot when I'm back home Sweet mate. Your course is gonna give this comp a real go hey. Think it's got a lot going for it. The tee shot on 1 is perfect as I did miss fairway on 1st play thru and a 1bar draw isn't a straightforward shot just think maybe bring the hazard at front left around the front of green further to make the 2nd in a 1bar draw aswell as it's length isn't an issue and great opener. I try make my front 9s the easier of the 2 also.

Pin locations, have not been set to hard yet, those are medium mostly
I will mix it up before final submission.
Hole 3 most likely tucked left front Hole 8 right center Hole 7 deep right Hole 1 eight deep left or front center Hole 2 unsure Etc

Maybe some of the greens dont have any really tucked locations, but you can for sure be a lot meaner with the placements without destroying the playability. I would prefer tucking pins over speeding the greens up.

i felt as tough the greenns were sluggish when compared to the roll out you would get on approach shots. That being said, it actually made it tougher in my opinion because it did not fit the rest of the course, I left quite a few putts short.

hole 10 update, getting it off the ground: lots of work left to do here, rough edging, some bunker work on the left side to match the right sides quality, bunker work near the green complex, etc etc will update later this week.
