Gave up quite some time ago.
First series amazing, quite big drop off season 2, but still good, then started getting a bit silly, in my opinion. Gave up after series 4 I think. (Or it might have been series 3 where the drop-off started, for me.)
The reviews are still good though! And Claire Danes and Mandy Patinkin are excellent in it.
I think I'm quite fussy with shows. I gave up on game of thrones too. And though I loved breaking bad, I thought the last two series were pretty over the top. I like shows with a slower pacing that treat their viewers as intelligent people. (NOT saying people who like homeland or GOT aren't intelligent! Just that the show's aren't necessarily geared towards that.)
I've just started watching a show called "Devs" and it's one of the best things I've seen recently. Very, very good.

To me the show was at its very best during the American soldier being turned storyline. How that ended was just gut wretching! Itβs still good, just nowhere near as good as it was. And is it just me or is anyone else just sick and tired of watching Clair Danes have a mental breakdown every other episode ?
On a side note.... The 1st season of Jack Ryan is fantastic!

I agree the first years were brilliant IMHO. The last 3 or so have been to "scattered", especially the Claire Danes mental health storyline. Now we have to ask what is up with Carrie and the huge elephant in the room is where is her head at this year. And I don't mean mental health wise I mean what happened when she was in "prison" I don't want to say too much/spoiler if others aren't up to speed. Both seasons of Jack Ryan are brilliant and it has been renewed for a third. I like how they brought Jack around rather than just throwing him in the deep end. Sort of how the books' storyline went.

Also massively recommend "Bosch" if people want a nice gritty cop show, but super classy too.

Yeah I watch it, although, I'm behind with the last two seasons. I think they've done a decent job of "modernising" the series since the beginning but it has lost a bit of its shine. I watch a LOT of stuff and I usually stick with it unless it's really bad, I can never just cut out watching a series.
Some of my favourites...
The Wire Better Call Saul The Last Kingdom GOT Vikings Boardwalk Empire Black Mirror Fortitude The man in the high castle The thick of it Utopia Tales from the loop
Also a really funny and whitty British sitcom called Peep Show.

I always look at the covers of the Jack Ryan books and cringe. But I suppose that's me judging a book by its cover... I might look into it.

I don't watch 1/2 as many shows as what you posted...maybe 5 total. Not huge on tv/streaming. Too many hobbies I guess. I tie flies and build wooden ship models from just blueprints. I get the latter from my grandpop...he had a ship building company in Newfoundland a 100 years ago
Forgot to mention that I also read at least one book a week. I read everything, not just one genre.

Fortunately my job is very laid back and I basically do as I please during the whole of winter. Mr and the mts constantly have a series going that we tuck up in bed to every night. I also read as much as I do anything else, life is just way too short to not enjoy your favourite things.

Give it a go π I'll be sure to check out Devs. It's just a one off miniseries; 8 episodes and you're done. So not a big commitment either π It's by the guy who did ex machina and annihilation, if that means anything to you. I watched the 4th ep last night, and I am absolutely LOVING it.

Not a big fan of how they ended this but I suppose I should read her book, eh?
