Love your work on this course. I grew up in Beverly Hills, FL which borders this course. I've had the opportunity to play it in real life twice with a friend who is also on TGC and your RCR was 100% spot on in both of our memories. Would love to see other courses from our area. Skyview (Terry LaGree design: did lots of work on renovations to Black Diamond), World Woods (another Fazio design), and Juliette Falls all come to mind. Thanks for your time and effort! Edit: Also Twisted Oaks in Beverly Hills would be a fun one to do with LIDAR. Very unlike most Florida courses, especially the back 9. I've been waiting for someone to do World Woods. I have a file on the shelf with the Course yardage book and a ton of pics of each hole to do a RCR, but I've been hoping someone else would step in with a good LiDar. I dont even know that you could do a good LiDar as the exhaustive storage space would come at the expense of proper landscaping/ planting. You CAN absolutely do a pristine job despite LiDAR taking up a fair amount of the planting meter - once you get used to using Chad's tool you can mask out vast amounts of the data and forgo auto planting and you'll usually have two thirds of the meter left so as long as you prioritise what is essential and spam plant instead of multi object cluster, you can actually do it really easy. I've found that a lot of LiDAR releases are rushed and half arsed. Whilst LiDAR opened up the design element to lot's of new designers, it also created a gold rush to publish famous courses and I've see some terrible ones as a result! nowhere near enough detail and they haven't even bothered to add layering to rough and to make sure all bunkers are where they should be and smoothed to make playable. It does my head in! I took around 150+ hours on all 4 of my LiDAR releases (think they are in my signature if you fancy trying some obscure UK courses) so when I see one rushed out it makes me mad. Black Diamond Ranch made me very happy though. It's how LiDAR should be used. It should be used as a gateway to creating realistic, curve perfect masterpieces like this

Definitely going to put this on my list of courses to play. It looks great! I would highly recommend playing all of Pat's courses. They are extremely well done and I love getting to play RCR's/Lidar courses from the UK that I haven't heard of and/or won't get to play IRL.

Ported to 2k21 this week. Left it alone except for a few pins.
Thinking of doing a 2k21 version where I could use the Highlands theme to get better quarry walls but use delta trees. Wondering if the patchy rough areas won’t look good when they turn from browns to grays.

Congratulations on the publish! Will definitely give it a play this week!
I noticed while reading through the full thread... you were (are?) working on a LiDAR Scioto CC? Is hat still in progress? Being from Columbus I’d love to see that in game, where Jack Nicholas learned the game and Bobby Jones won a US Open!

The clubhouse is going to be the biggest challenge. Was hoping the new designer would have new assets that could help. I don’t want to ruin the 18th hole. I’m going to get back to Scioto CC this week.

Not had much time for a leisurely stroll round a course with so much going on but picked this out for a bit of relaxation and must say it was an absolute pleasure. Favourited and sure to be returning.

It should be used as a gateway to creating realistic, curve perfect masterpieces like this I know this is out of date, but when I was doing Lidar builds I was eager to do World Woods and Juliette Falls (I was a member there for several years and love the course); however as of the end of 2020 there did not seem to be Lidar data available for either course. I bet the data is available for Twisted Oaks though, since it is so close to Black Diamond. The back nine is a real fun layout, but the course has always been in such crappy shape I gave up playing there.
