Hi Everyone - I submitted my first course a couple weeks ago, and it was approved last week, which I am very excited about. I wanted to post here to introduce you all to Aeolia Island. Having a little more free time in the last month let me put in a good amount of time on this course, and I really hope a lot of you get the chance to give it a run. I'd love to get the thing handicap rated and potentially even get some tournaments hosted there. I posted a video on my Youtube of the first official round after posting the course, in case anyone would like to see it before playing:
The course weaves through a rugged island terrain and surrounds an oasis (for lack of a better term), creating some really good-looking flyovers and visuals, but I put a lot of time into the golf itself as well. Without getting into every hole on the course, I'd point you towards the flyovers on #4, 9, 11, & 17 to get an idea of what the course is like. #4 gives you the first real view of the majority of the island, 9 is a driveable par 4 with a great view of the oasis, 11 is a cape hole along the coast with a split fairway and a road hole green, and 17 is my tribute to one of my favorite places in the world - Yosemite Valley.
There are decisions to be made on nearly every shot, and while not an overly long or tight course, I really tried to make it valuable to be in the right spots to have good angles to pins. I'd love to get some feedback on the course, as I'm always looking to get better at this, but I think Aeolia Island turned out really well, and I'm excited it was approved and made available to all of you. I really hope you like it.
I don't have a good way to take pics of the course, so could karma4u or someone else possibly add some to this thread?
I hope you're all staying safe.
Cheers,
Matt Mura
