Vancouver Sound, located 20 miles southwest of Vancouver Island, was originally a 9 hole short course designed and owned by British Colonel Sydney Mountbatten. Built in 1922, only 3 holes, 15,16 and 18, remain unchanged. 9 new holes were built in 1954 after the Mountbatten estate brought the remain 3 large islands from the Canadian government. Another rebuild took place in 1990 to add more challenge. Holes 2, 6 and 7 were redesigned and lengthened. In reference to Mountbatten’s famous ball striking ability, shot shaping is paramount especially off the tee. His even more infamous struggles with the flat stick have been remembered by the quick but gentle greens, only the original greens will give a serious challenge. Although the setting is in the Pacific Northwest, famous for rainfall, this year the course has dried out substantially but the greens have been heavily watered and are extremely responsive. We hope you enjoy this beautiful island golf course.

Unfortunately, this jumped the gun and was published before the window for the CC contest opened. So it won't be eligible for that, but Justin snapped some good pics and I think it's definitely worthy of a ...

Just played a round. Some good looking holes throughout. Varying tee shots, approaches. I went for the OB par 5...twice...put a 10 in the books. There were a few illegal pins (pin 1) Id recommend cleaning up prior to submitting to TGC...if thats something you fancy.

I'll give this a stream and a review tomorrow afternoon (GMT - around noon) as well. Should give you some pointers ahead of your second design. Looking forward to it!

Thanks for the feedback guys. Not sure what you mean about the illegal pins as I checked throughly, maybe a publishing error but I’ll check again! A review would be great. Where could I see that?

Enjoyed my round! I posted this to Twitch - you'll have the VOD saved on there for 14 days, after which time it'll disappear. Hopefully useful in terms of what we look for and some specific areas for focus. Do ask in Tips and Tricks or any of our design streams if you're unsure of how to do any of the things I suggest.

Thank you b101 for your review. I’ve watched it and learnt loads! Hopefully I can improve from your feedback. One question that I’ve still been unable to find an answer to is how do I set wind default conditions? Any advice on that would be great! Once again, thanks for your help!

You can't, unfortunately. Only way is to test in Local Match, going through My Unpublished courses.
However, I'd suggest that if there's a specific wind that would be a killer (you'll see I got 20mph winds), then maybe specify 'medium winds max' in your eventual thread. We aren't requiring conditions set for this contest - only the major contest does that - but my take is always that, if you want judges to know something, let them know. It certainly can't hurt!

You may have had this answered in one of the video reviews, but this is in the Course Submissions thread guidelines: "-The 9-box rule states that the box the pin is in and the 8 surrounding that one should not contain any yellow or red slopes -Pins in the middle of large yellow or red slopes will not be approved" I've had the same thing happen to me. Looking at a course I was building using the editor I had a course that looked fine, but published with yellows around the pins. The same thing happened with a current course I'm building. It looked fine from the editor, but when I tested it yellows had popped up around a pin.

If the grid lines are diagonal to the slope it may show up as green when in fact it is actually yellow. Testing putts from different angles will change the alignment of the grid and reveal any yellow near the hole. Ideally you want to see the grid when it is lined straight up or down the slope.
