Welcome to the most prestigious country club located here in my home state of Tennessee. This beautiful piece of property is the home of 2 18 hole championship courses the sunbear and the grizzly(I’ll get more into to those on a different thread) this is a combination of the grizzly and sunbear courses. The configuration uses the back 9 of the sunbear course and a mixture of holes on the grizzly. So the name golden bear (B is short for bear) came to mind. The golden bear course is a Par 70 7139 yd major layout this course will challenge the best players on the game.
The conditions for the event are as followed
1st round- very firm very firm high winds southeast
2nd round - medium winds northwest soft green firm fairways
3rd round- very fast firm firm high winds east
4th round very firm very firm fast high winds east
#1 par 5 586 yards-the opening hole on the golden bear is the longest hole on the golden bear course. The fairway slopes left to right so aiming towards the bunker is your friend. The approach leaves you with a wood shot over the water to a two tiered green the opener should leave you a good shot at birdie
#2 par 4 501 yd this long uphill par 4 is one of the toughest holes on the course hitting fairway here is must so good luck
# 3 par 4 454 yd this par 4 leaves you two options off the tee with a bunker right in the middle of the fairway you have two options right is the longer way around the hole playing it more like a dogleg two bunkers on the left will be out of play with the longer clubs
Option two is play your tee shot over the river to a skinner landing area with water to the left and bunker to the left but will leave you with a shorter shot in so good luck. Don’t forget the to wave to the guys on the river during ride
#4 par 4 445 yd This mid range par 4 plays to a skinny fairway with the best play is to take on the threat of the bunker to the right to give you the best advantage on your approach to the uphill green
#5 504 yd par 4 this downhill par 4 will make you carry the bunker in front of the landing area to have a better approach to the green guarded by water in the front of the green
#6 par 3 212 yd The first par three on the golden bear course might feel like a relief after the long stretch of par 4s in a row but don’t get to comfortable the fearsome par 3 will force you to shoot of the water down hill to well ungulated green
#7 par 4 471 yd welcome to the principals office this uphill par four don’t have much issue off the tee other than the obnoxious principals nose right smack down in the middle off this fairway hitting fairway is key to this hole cause of the uphill approach to a well Protected green
#8 par 3 142 yd. welcome to the shortest hole here on the golden bear this short par three will require pinpoint accuracy to the very undulating green
#9 548 yd par 5 this dogleg left par 5 is going to require a slight fade off the tee to have the best attack at the uphill approach probably one of the best opportunities for birdie on the golden bear
#10 par 4 503yd this is the short par 5 turned par 4 for the major event this hole will challenge your long iron on your approach will OB guarding the front of the green
#11 par 4 402 yd this short downhill par four is probably your best opportunity at birdie for the rest of the round just hit a straight shot and you have a good chance at birdie
#12 450 yd par 4 this dogleg right par 4 will test the your mid iron approachment skills will the big roadhole bunker guarding the front left of this green
#13 par 3 201 yd. this beautiful par three shoots over water and a rock lined wall guarding this undulating green
#14 par 4 369 yd . Welcome to the shortest par 4 on the course this little @!$#er will jump out and bite you if your not careful this is a hole that will decide a championship I almost guarantee it
#15 178-200yd par 3. This hybrid par 3 was not originally designed as a par three this hole was put together using the 14th tees and the 15th green on the grizzly so good luck shooting over the lake
16 455 yd par 4. The last par 4 on the course isn’t no slouch water is in play off the tee and on your approach one mistake and you might find yourself swimming
17. Par 3 160 yd. welcome to the island green par three where all hell can break loose so good luck and have fun with this one
18. Par 5 537 yd. welcome to the final hole here at the golden bear this double dogleg par five will challenge you shot making capability off the tee. The approach will leave you with a hefty shot of the pond to a rock walled green a good chance to finish your round with a birdie.
I just wanted to say thank you to Eric and Andre I deleted the last thread because I’ve had somethings come up and I wanted to re do the whole post so here it is. I’ve got some good news that my aunt is doing better and I didn’t have to leave. So after the major the course is going to go to go through a slight renovation after the major so stay tuned to see that the only reason I’m changing anything is because when I posted I was @!$#ing exhausted so that’s why
