I know nothing about New Zealand Lidar, but in order for Chad's tool to work you are going to need to find the right EPSG code. without it the tool cannot meld together the Lidar data and OSM plot. I have no idea how to get EPSG codes for NZ, but the website Spatial reference brings up this page when you search New Zealand. What you need to do is click on the EPSG number for an area you think might be what you are interested in and check that the coordinates for that number include the ones for where the course is located. Example: For EPSG:3788NZGD2000 / Auckland Islands TM 2000 WGS84 Bounds: 164.5000, -52.0000, 167.5000, -47.0000 That does not mean this is the correct code, but if your location is NOT between those coordinates it DEFINITELY is not the correct code. Obviously this is not the one you want based on the coordinates in your original post. You might have to try quite a few to find the right one. Good hunting and good luck!

Appreciate the help! I've been on that site and found a load that apply to New Zealand. I've tried 43 different codes found between Spatial Reference and EPSG.io and have got absolutely nowhere. Has anybody else used OpenTopography and not been able to find a correct EPSG code? In the metadata, it gives the following horizontal and vertical coordinates: Horizontal CoordinatesNZTM2000 NZGD2000 Meters [EPSG: 2193] Vertical CoordinatesNZVD2009 [EPSG: 4440] as you can see on here: portal.opentopography.org/lidarOutput?jobId=pc1585463458002&metadata=1But none of it seems to work for me. Alternatively, is there any way that we can put in a code and then change the position so that it sits over the right place?

I am sorry that did not work; I am out of ideas. Do you know if anyone else has successfully done a Lidar build of a NZ course? If so maybe you could contact them.

Don't be sorry - really appreciate your help!
I'm not sure about Lidar - I can see that there are a few NZ courses but not sure how to find out the designer of them?

Go to this link TGC2019 courses and then use the littl martini glass in the Course Name header to search for NZ courses you kno the name of. All the info available will be shown. Also you can go to this site TGC RCRs and search there.

Perfect - thanks again!
I've not seen anyone using Lidar in NZ, but have seen a couple of NZ courses so have hit some people up, so finger's crossed!

Did you have any luck with this? Also trying to make courses in NZ and running into the exact same issues... I bought TGC for the express purpose of designing local courses to play since I'm in lockdown!

No not yet - I've sent a message to a couple of people to help me out but not having a lot of luck.
Here are the codes that I've tried so far:
2105 3395 3857 4322 4740 5759 27258 32760
2133 3409 3932 4324 4760 6934 27260
2134 3410 3994 4326 4958 7789 27291
2135 3788 4167 4363 4959 7839 32360
2193 3789 4272 4364 4979 27200 32560
2975 3851 4276 4440 5700 27205 32759
Did you get the Lidar from Open Topography?
What course are you looking to design? I was thinking about Jack's Point next, but not going to the hassle if I then can't get the Lidar data properly!

I did get the Lidar from Open Topography. I was hoping to do Palmerston North GC and Manawatu GC, my two local courses. I was also hoping to do some more around NZ if I could get it to work but unfortunately I've come up empty so far.
I'm going to try and make some US courses in the meantime.

Yeah it's pretty annoying - seems like we're so close just need a 4-5 digit code, yet still so far away!
Bar trying every EPSG code ever used, I dunno what else to try.
I've seen something called LAStools, but looks like you need some sort of programming experience to work them out. I'm at a loss otherwise unless anyone on this forum can help us out.

I really feel for you two guys and wish I could think of something more to do to help you, but I am out of ideas. Maybe there are some designers from your neighbors (Aussies) who have some insights?

I made a course which I've played in the US before in the meantime. Bahle Farms in Suttons Bay, Michigan. It's my first ever course I've created in TGC and it's far from perfect, but I spent quite a bit of time on it so I'd really appreciate if either of you wanted to test it out and give some feedback! It's called Bahle Farms if you search it. Thanks!

Should have just stayed home and played on the Skytrak! Because I can't play in the lockdown, I was going to create a course instead. Once it's better in a few weeks, I'll have a look and let you know my thoughts!
