Being a hardcore PUBG player I was skeptical to say the least. After playing it a little bit I have to say it's fun. Certainly not PUBG but it offers a different spin on battle Royal.
It's free to play so nothing to lose.

It's my favorite battle royal by a wide margin

The only shooter that has captured my attention in years has been fortnite. And that has taken a back seat to tgc now.
Every other shooter is either army type(cod, pubg) or alien type(apex, doom)
Fortune is the first thing to offer something truly different in years.
I think the last shooter I played before that was max Payne

Warhawk on PS3 was the best shooter ever imo.
I'm not a battle royale fan. That mode is over-saturated everywhere.

That was the closest thing I've ever played to online multiplayer perfection. Haven't tried this one yet because I doubt I'd take the time to get into it and mostly because it's a nearly a 100GB download and despite having 6TB of hard drive space on my PS4 I'm almost out of space. Too lazy to take the time to make space to add something else to my massive gaming backlog.

Way to arcade for my taste But it certainly is a huge game. One of the biggest draws for PUBG is no aim assist, huge maps and accurate ballistics. Very intense game . Problem is it has major performance issues on consoles . Especially the older ones without SSDs. For me SOCOM 1 and 2 was the best games ever. So ahead of it's time. I hope Warzone comes out with a more hardcore version. No aim assist, no radar , circle is not on the map until after the last person lands and no respawn. But again it's fun and a good break from PUBG which I was getting a little burned out on.

Pubg screwed the Pooch when it ignored PS4 for the first however long.
Then when they finally released on PS4 they made it paid when fortnite was free and already had a stranglehold.
Also h1z1 was before pubg anyway.
Not sure under what basis pubg had to sue. The only commonality they had was that they were battle Royale which wasn't a new concept.
But I was talking shooters in general not just battle Royale. Shorts have been the same for years. And you have been playing them since Wolfenstein 3d was the first fps back in the 90s the genre was getting stale ( for me)

I liked that SOCOM let you choose between first and third person if you wanted to. Also the "one and done" mode with no respawn was great. Presently, I just play Battlefield. Bf4 was my fav. BF5 is fun even with the occasional bug. Love the destructive environment of BF and more of a realistic feel to it than CoD which feels incredibly arcade imo. But to each their own, play what makes you happy

BF4 was good. Too bad they never upgraded to 4K . BF1 was ok and had very little interest in BF5. Prefer modern shooters. I thought EA messed up with going the direction they did.
I have not played COD seriously since the first Modern Combat. It was getting way to arcade. That's when I switched to BF and never went back. Then I heard about PUBG and went that direction.
WZ certainly has some arcade aspects but what it has going for it is a lot of fun and it runs very well on my system compared to PUBG. With a 150 people and the size of the map that is impressive.
What I really like about it so far is you have so many options on how to play the game. It has little mini games within the main game that can help you survive but also can get you killed. Hard to explain unless you play it. I bought a airstrike yesterday and pinged this guy and a jet came in and landed a bomb on his head. That was awesome lol.the sound is amazing on surround sound.
I believe it has broken some records for people playing so it's worth a shot. I have a couple friends who wouldn't be caught dead playing cod and are playing.

There's a record for people saying something is worth a shot? Lol, where is that record book at, I want to see what else they track.

hey FRSTDWN how is it on single player? are they gonna keep that around?
I prefer to play BR games single player, I really can't stand being paired up with random idiots.
I really enjoyed PUBG, but two things got to me, so I stopped playing. - the constant monetization of seemingly EVERYTHING I wanted to do kept eating at me. For a while it seemed like they were making it so you could earn stuff by playing, but then it became apparent that you couldn't get anything while playing just casually, like I prefer. - The maps. I liked the big open maps, where it takes a while. But it seemed like they were pushing the smaller quicker maps. I wanted it where I could just randomly pick one of the bigger ones, but I could either pick one map only and wait forever, or make it random, and half the time deal with the smaller ones I didn't care about.
I do like Fortnite, but its a completely different animal, and I have to be in the mood for it.
I always thought Ring of Elysium had a GREAT premise, but then they went and screwed it up by trying to copy every other BR out there, instead of staying with their great originality.
