Some courses give you the feeling of playing a game and then there's the few but rare courses that give you the feeling of playing golf. This is one of those rare gems. This completely. Absolutely class course, and I'd have to imagine I'll be contacting you soon about a potential Tour version if you're interested. Thanks for playing! I will be releasing a tour version in the next few weeks maybe. What Tour would you be looking at using it for. I could try and squeeze a bit more difficulty out of it if it’s for the higher tours.

Also to double down on the overall sculpting: When you play Oakmont on this game or other games (shoutout to CLV) the sculpting of the entire plot is stunning. It's hard to say why, there's not much terrain, mostly flat, but the course just blends together perfectly with the subtle rolls and changes of the holes in the background. It's an unbelievable course and I'm so happy all the trees are gone to let you see it. I've tried to get that look on plots before but I just couldn't. I think you've done a great job of doing that here. Oakmont was an influence for this course. The way it just sits on the land so effortlessly is so nice. I also like the more aggressive features of Oakmont that lie outside of the fairways. Little bumps and knolls and creeks. Weird quirky hazards. It’s something you just don’t see anymore. It’s as if the modern construction technology gives you too much control and you lose the distinctive qualities of the site. Avery Fields was definitely about making a course that retained the unique qualities of the land.

I played this the other night and very much enjoyed my round. Vibes of Merion, Morraine, and Lawsonia. Really well thought out routing. Loved the layering on long views but contrasted with the seclusion of a few holes as well. Didn't mind the 16th, to be honest. It maybe felt a tad forced but the strategy in the quartering wind I had was enough to make that tee shot very interesting.
All of your courses are top notch and this one is up there among your best. Thank you for sharing it.

Very well done from what I seen on the first few holes. Definitely a little different than your normal "meh" courses. We will start the Friday night a lot shot on Xbox with this on Friday...6pmEST so I can see the rest of it.

Just finally played this one after watching two different streams. I have to echo everyone else has said so far. I played on pin set three and found a decent amount of tough pins which I quite liked. I got on the wrong side of a few of them and was cursing your name haha
My two favorite parts were how you used the textures in ways I don't recall seeing before and how you were able to get multiple views around the course as you wind your way through the routing. You've definitely inspired me a lot here with my contest course and how to creatively use the textures to my advantage. You took what can a lot of times be a bland style of course and elevated it to something different and unique. Really well done my man.

I'm coming back to this thread because I just realized what real life course this reminds me of: Myopia Hunt Club! Ah, yes....the Near-Sighted Hunt Club. Wondering if they're going to do a Hyperopia ?

Thank you for sharing it. Thanks for playing Job. The long views combined with the secluded holes was definitely something I was going for. Love transition between confined and open spaces. Yeah the verdict on 16 is that it’s interesting but uncomfortable. I’m curious what I could do to make it feel less awkward it still retain the interest and challenge.

I would say that they are a little bit too extreme. I’m going to update a few on the tour version. Glad you liked the contrast, some find it a bit garish. Look forward to seeing what you can pull off with the textures!

I'm coming back to this thread because I just realized what real life course this reminds me of: Myopia Hunt Club! Myopia was actually one of the first courses that I thought of when I was looking for inspiration with this one. Should have given it credit. Super old school. Love the oddities all over the place. I opted for a slightly different bunker style but I definitely took ideas form it.

"The end result may be underwhelming to some and that’s fine. I’m less interested these days in wowing and more about creating well integrated routings and varied use of the property. What I get a kick out of the most though are all the nerds who come out to play and comment on the course. So cool to see all these talented and knowledgeable guys give their opinions on the course. I’ve got to get back to playing and return the favour."
