Did they update the LiDar data? Last summer it was old. Example, the punchbowl didnt exist yet. Nope, this data is from 2009. Bandon Dunes was built in 1999. The data is certainly older than I would like, but it is good quality AFIK. The course has made some changes all along, especially to the bunkering, so as I said above I am having to go by Google Earth and photos and descriptions that are available. It will not be perfect, and certainly when new data comes out anyone is welcome to redo the course, but I still think it is an good addition to the TGC. As for the Punchbowl, since it not on this course I was not concerned with it.

BANDON DUNES GOLF COURSE is now available to TGC2019 players in the form of Bandon Dunes 2 "It began in 1999 with the opening of Bandon Dunes. Designed by Scotsman David McLay Kidd, the course is perched on a bluff high above the Pacific Ocean. Bandon Dunes unfolds along pristine native dunes where expansive ocean views are revealed on nearly every hole. The course is completely natural and routed through an environment of indigenous vegetation. Beyond breathtaking scenery lies the game of golf in its truest form. This is a thinker's course. Winds are ever-present, and the varying elements create a new experience each time you play". The course has undergone a number of changes since it was opened in 1999, most particularly the bunkering. The Lidar available was from 2009 and was of good quality, but obviously some terrain changes have been made which will not be accurately represented. I used two main resources in bunkering and for planting. Google Earth's latest overhead is from early 2019 and encompasses a lot of the changes. The other resource is a set of YouTube videos from "The Golfholics" which was released in August 2019 which is very useful. I really encourage all of you who have interest in Lidar RCRs to give this a play. The course IRL is nearly always windy so I recommend at least high winds (although if you watch the videos those guys had up to 25 mph). Please tear it apart and let me know anything that is wrong or could be improved. Some photos below: I hope you enjoy!

Exciting! Why the "2" on the end of the name?

Exciting! Why the "2" on the end of the name? There are already a couple of Bandon Dunes in game. Probably one of these courses is named simply Bandon Dunes.

Exciting! Why the "2" on the end of the name? Leon, it is because of my stupidity . Originally it was going to be called Bandon Dunes 2019 Lidar, except when I was working on it in the designer it was called Bandon Dunes 2 because it was the second trial to bring down the Lidar data. Dumba$$ me forgot to change the name before I published it .

Just played. Another grear work. I must admit i'm not a great fan of this kind of courses (and links in general) on this game, cause they tendentially loses too much atmosphere, but for sure this is a really nice course, really well designed. Although i'm not a true lover of these courses, for some reason, i usually play pretty well on them, especially with strong wind blowing. And even this time, playing in a constant strong wind from west, all deafult, i closed my round with a -10 and some really satisfying approach and putt...and without 3 totally wasted putts for a little lag on my pc (fault or my internet connection, the course runs flawlessly) and not enough focus on what i was doing, it could be a -12 or -13 and also a bogey free round. But well..is not bad at all for a first round playing with master clubs Thank you, anyway, cause this is another great course for our community. I also hope to find the time to play as soon as possible your 2 last courses too..cause for a reason or another one (foundamentally, i suspect i'm doing too many things at the same time about the game ) i never find the time to play the enormous amount of courses i really wish to play/check.

Now that your done with Bandon may I fancy you a trinity forest lol Bear you clearly have a bug up your butt for Trinity Forest, and it looks like a great track. Two issues however: Lidar taken in 2015 was done before the course was completed, and the latest Lidar data from 2019 is "in progress" and based on my estimation probably won't be available til at least 2021, heck I am still waiting for data from 2017! Secondly Jeff hoosierhoops24 is interested in doing this course.

But with the Byron Nelson canceled this year, we won’t be seeing Trinity Forest any more on the PGA Tour. They’re probably moving back to TPC Four Seasons for now until the Frisco courses are made.

Bearforlife73, I know you have interest in Trinity Forest and would encourage you to do a version of the course. I think you're already aware of the lidar situation and although I had already planned off work to attend the practice round to take pics of Trinity Forest, obviously that won't happen now. I would suggest if anyone has interest in doing it to watch for a replay on Golf Channel. I'm still working on Austin Country Club and they showed a replay of last year's Dell Match Play. I recorded it and there are some great shots on the broadcast that will really help me put the finishing touches on the course. Maybe they will do the same for the Nelson in a few weeks.

Another really good job on this course- you had a lot of things working against you with recent changes to the course, marginal Lidar, and mapping that doesn’t wholly resemble the shapes of the fairways, greens, and bunkers today. But you were still able to knock it out of the park!
Here’s just a few nit-picky notes about some trees, bushes, and other inconsequential things:
Hole 2: There’s not as many bushes in from the tee to the front of the green, just some long grass.
Hole 3: Again there’s all these bushes in front of the tee before the fairway which should just be long grass
Hole 5: There’s some bushes up by the green and along the fairway leading up to the green that don’t exist
Hole 11: There’s two pine trees on the left side of the fairway up by the green that don’t exist.
Hole 13: There’s a pine tree in the gorse bushes on the left side of the fairway that sticks out and shouldn’t be there.
Hole 18: Another pine tree is on the left side of the fairway here that shouldn’t be there.
Again fantastic job, take whatever of my notes that you like, the course is great anyway... I’ll be looking forward to the Honors Course!

Also with Trinity Forest yeah if anyone wants to do it go ahead. I mapped it in OSM before I knew of the change of venue, otherwise I wouldn’t have spent the time doing that. It’s ok, that’s just the way things roll. Anyway when the new Lidar comes out, someone should make use of it and do it!

I’ll be looking forward to the Honors Course! Thanks Scoll I can always depend on you for good input. The tree problems are mostly due to not being able to find a type of tree that is so prevalent on the course - those "lone cypress" types. I guess I will take out the ones you have pointed out since I cannot get the correct ones. I brought all the tree locations down from the Lidar with Chad's tool, but sometimes it does not put the right size in. In fact I would say I made at least half the trees as small as they could go and then sunk them way down into the ground. I will update this post when I have fixed the things you mention. Note added in edit: I just found out that a designer Bobby22 is already working on the Honors course so I PMed him about it to see how he was going. I may have to switch to something else.

Some people have come up with genius ways of creating the right type of tree they're after. For example, those dead trees, with bushes attached on top. I'm sure you've considered this and it didn't work out, but just thought I'd mention...
