I have to say playing in the fall is a fantastic experience. Theres just something special about all the leaves and the crispness of the air. Problem is the way it looks in TGC. It tends to look rather cartoonish, so much so I tend to avoid the courses done in that theme, which is a shame because theres a ton that are really well planned and laid out. Do you like the Autumn theme or do you just try and ignore it as much as possible?

I really haven't spent a whole lot of time in that theme yet... not that I don't like it, it's just I think there are a number of other themes that are better. But if you can get the lighting right and stay away from using the dreadlock willow trees, it can look really good. Take Lake Sofia for example.
I do like all the different color trees that are available to sink into the ground to use as bushes. You can get some really cool results if done right.

Autumn's great (and Harvest as people struggle to differentiate between the two) and has some of my favourite courses. Check out Brookfield Landing, Overbrook Valley, Blue River Dunes, The Shires of Cambridge, The Dunes at Lake Marie, Old Olkham Village - probably some others I'm missing.

The colorful trees can look cartoony if done wrong. But if used as an accent and not a focal point, the theme is one of my favorites. A really good example of this is, like Ben had mentioned, Brookfield Landing. Also check out Lake Sophia and Gotham Municipal. Those last 2 have more of the color but they look great. And if you have time Old Olkham Village isn't half bad either. I think you're just playing the wrong courses.

There are some really great Autumn courses... and agree on completely eliminating the dreadlock Willow tree. Olmsted is probably my favorite course I've designed... i love the look of the color trees, shrunk down and buried as bushes. I'm contemplating my new course- London Hyde Park in Autumn as well.

I just completed a course in the Autumn Theme -- Rock Creek Country Club (check it out!). I think it comes down to the preference and abilities of the designer. For instance, I really struggle to be creative in the desert or steppe themes. Autumn came a little more naturally. Also, 15eicheltower9 is right... the colorful trees need to be in the minority or it can look fake.
