You know what would make a good contest with Lidar is finding a course about 6600 yards and using your design skills and only the plot of the land it is on and make something more playable in game around 7000 yards plus.Trying to do it with Wallasey GC at the moment only 6600 yards but the best i can do with the small plot is get it just under 7000.Great Fun trying to do it without real health and safety issues if you did it real life and not adding any bunkers or moving plot of land to much.So you still got the Real Lidar course there with there Tees but something extra for in game. Interesting idea Yeltzman. There certainly are a ton of "classic" courses out there in the 6500 yd range to consider. I have generally looked at those and not considered building them just because they are so short for the TGC game, but perhaps with your idea. The not adding any bunkers might make it a little tougher though.

I was thinking more about this earlier and I might have a way to make it work. How about an 'inspired by X course' contest, but with the caveat that said course should cost a maximum of £50 to play? That would preclude your Tara Iti, Cape Kidnappers, Tobacco Roads etc., but would allow for a rugged, basic Scottish links as well. When publishing, I'd ask designers to post the course they got inspiration from and go from there. This to me is a fascinating idea. Obviously this is extremely subjective, but having some type of scorecard that judged creativity, difficulty and others along with an estimated price point for 18 Holes would be fun.

Yes just finished the course Not a TGC tours course but with the extra tees just in at under 7000 yards really for the par 5s,i think its 6 holes no space for a extra tee which is a real shame, because if they had room they could really make it open championship qualifying worthy again.Don;t think the extra tees spoil it in any way also if you wish the Real white tees are there.Don't think i would pay £110 per round they charge there little steep i feel,But i do perfer it as a links course more than it's well known championship course close by.
