So if I'm understanding this correctly anybody can enter with no limit on number of entrants. But only a set number will be drafted? And it's live, so we can watch people's hopes and dreams be shattered in real time? Sounds great, doesn't it? Who wouldn't want in...? As for the rationale in sensible terms: I don't want to say everyone that signs up is automatically in, as, if the same thing happens as with CC, it'll be chaos with 37 vs 38 or whatever it is. However, we'll try to involve a good amount of people and have some fun. |

Another question, and this involves all contests. Can you route a second course on a plot that you've already finished one? If I did enter this one, I already have a plan and routing for a second course on my CC plot. The CC course will be released with some dummy holes around the perimeter and where they'd come into view during flybys. Could I then delete those dummy holes, flatten all the land, and route the new course and start from scratch? I'm guessing probably not because of the background work away from the course, but wanted to make sure.

It's not long now... In further news of what to expect: 1) A contest pretty heavy on fun. It is all in good spirit, but sign up knowing there will be jokes and friendly digs. Mostly at gamesdecent 's lack of playtesting and ryanmcconnell 's inability to playtest 2) Live Draft as per community wishes. Think Wheel of Drink on steroids. Exact date and location tbc, but bring drink and a cup. 3) Prior to that, a full mock draft from Trayys and myself. 4) Playthroughs of each course with feedback from Trayys and myself 5) A tight two week window for publishes. Captains may elect to coordinate publishes as per last year. In all seriousness, we want this contest to have a bit of a lighter, jokier feel than some of the more serious affairs. It's a team game and we anticipate a good amount of friendly trash talk between teams. Pretty sure the captains will set the tone. A reminder of dates: 20th May - 27th May: sign ups open. There will be a separate thread for this. It's not first come, first served due to the draft nature and depending on uptake numbers (we see you, CC contest), we may not be able to take everyone who signs up. 28th-29th May: mock drafts and live draft. Post draft, join team Discord channel and discuss ideas. Possibility of trades has been mooted... 1st June (12am GMT - screw you all for a change): start courses 17th August: publish window opens 1st September (12am GMT): publish window closes. Questions? Trash talk? Lemonade? Excitement? Desire to plant a giant tree? Let us know. Casual stab there... I See you, biscuit boy. |

So... seeing as the new game is coming out on August 21, what becomes of DT? Continue as scheduled? Since the deadline is August 31st this could be tough to get volunteers for and recognition for the courses. Not to be negative here but it might be hard to find judges that still want to play TGC2019 when 2K21 is out. Any thoughts on this? b101 |

Yes CiB0RG. We've discussed it today at length with captains and the contest team and decided we're going to postpone and kick the contest off with 2K21. It's a wrench, because we've all been looking forward to this for ages, but we know it's the right call and should see a great take-up, as well as a ton of great courses coming into the game from the off. I'll have some proper dates for you all shortly, but assume sign ups and draft happening just before the 21st August, with you able to start the course as soon as you get your copy of the game on 21st. Even if there are betas, I likely won't adapt that starting time to ensure parity (and we want the game to be stable). Oh and as it's a new game, I've also challenged King Trayys to a throw-down singles match, which we'll tie into the contest somehow as a way to steal the limelight from you all and make it all about us. Because... well, it is. |
