Wakanya Gold
Wakanya is the Lakota Sioux word for "sacred", and the Gold course is the first of two (maybe eventually three or four) full 18 hole courses at the Wakanya Club stay-and-play resort. The Gold course is a par 70, championship caliber course playing 7036 yards from the tips. It takes inspiration from courses like the Prairie Club and Sand Hills in setting and style, and National Golf Links of America in bold terrain, shot-making, and undulating greens. While birdies are out there on most holes, the angles of approach and definitely-don't-miss-it-here spots can change with each pinset. Recommended wind is S-SE at high speed, and pins 2 and 4 have played the most difficult for me in playtesting. Work the ball, play the slopes, and bring the hot putter. Wakanya Black will be finished and released shortly after the World Cup of Design submission deadline, it's already routed and laid out on the plot, just needs some sculpting touch ups and final planting. I may even send the plot to a couple others and let them make the third and fourth courses, I have a couple in mind that I think the terrain would work perfectly for. Anyone interested, feel free to PM me.

Edit: Finally got the play the whole thing again. My favorite part of the routing is 5/6 and 13/14. The double green that splits off with awesome par 3's in either direction. Just really good. Then the finishing stretch of 16-17-18 all in the same direction and bunkers on 18 looking like they are on 16 from 16 tee is hilariously great layering from 700 yards away. The other petty touches are all there too. Ground game. Waste areas that look natural and easy which actually probably took a long time to get right. Greens that you had better look at before you tee off. Really good stuff and just adding to what will be awesome to watch when groups C and D face off in the round of 16.

Liked watching all those high side downhill chips haha, also glad you picked up on depth perception trick with the bunkering on #17. There’s quite a few on the course like that that I tried to add in.

I only wish some day I can design a hole as perfect as your par 3 6th. And your par 3 17th wasn't far behind. This is easily my favourite of the WC courses so far. But I am a biased Petty guy. Superb work man. Loved everything.

Everything about this course was great. Visually amazing and while the course looked open and inviting it certainly required some thought, caution, and care when planning your shots. Great work and good luck in the contest.

Wow dude nice looking and playable course. Congratulations on the completion, looking forward to seeing the others. Thanks for another great course for us all to hit and good luck. Awesome video. Yeah, the paths are meant to be dirt walkways, but unfortunately the game doesn’t have anything like that, so you can still get a big bounce on it if you hit them (was really hoping you had pulled that off on the par 5 lol). Eagle putt was a great one, especially after taking the bait and going at that pin in two. You sniffed out the mounding protecting it, tempo got you though. I loved the up and then downhill double breaker from the wrong side of the thumbprint on #14, been waiting for a video where someone misses the tier on that hole. Pretty wild that you still saved par on that one. Thanks for the play man, glad you enjoyed the course. You got a new subscriber, I’ll have to go back through the rest of your videos, not sure you’ve played any of my other ones.
