Didn't have time to do an entire round on the simulator, just played a few holes after I was done with another one. However, this drive on 4 was the highlight of my day: streamable.com/y836p

Would love to see what you make of the rest of the front nine / back nine.

For sim, I think the back would likely play better. Interested to see how 16-18 would hold up and the 10th will be a huge amount of fun for you (just don't go for pin 2 lol). If you want the fear of God, play pin 1 for the 13th, which has the most frightening pin you'll find.
Would love to see how it goes for you - it was designed as a course that should give you lots of fun shots and allow you to try to use the ground game a lot (as you did on the drive on the 4th), so hoping that translates for you.

Nah, way too easy for you guys - you've just had your -77 Christmas present from Dale, so I reckon you probably deserve Ohhey's . Thank you for the kind words though! That said, if you want a challenge in my sort of style, go and look at Marlette Fells on maxed conditions. It was on Euro last week and held up pretty well with -37 taking it.

But Kaiuma would put up a fight with four rounds at very high winds to match Hawaii weather. I think it's always windy in Hawaii.

I assume you're talented and creative going by this course. Have you ever designed an old fashioned old school tree lined course before? I mean like with some overhanging branches in the fairways that make you work the ball to the proper side of the fairways? Like bowling alley type fairways reminiscent of Firestone but much tighter to account for our too accurate driver in the game.

Like bowling alley type fairways reminiscent of Firestone but much tighter to account for our too accurate driver in the game. Not yet - I tend to not really like that style of course as it kind of limits options and forces you to hit specific shots rather than allowing for choices. I'm working on a parkland style course at the moment, but even that will be quite a wide affair. Maybe one day for a future design Of course, if you have a good example of that in game, please let me know and I'll go give it a play - always good to get new ideas!
P.S. As per the other post, yes it can hold up in very high winds, but to me it feels a bit more like a lottery in 20mph+ winds and it actually limits the way you can use the terrain a little. If it goes on tour, maybe one round in very high, but mostly medium-high for the best experience (at least, in my opinion). Bear in mind I am not a good player lol...

I was talking to this one designer on here before my hiatus about doing Ottawa Park in Toledo, OH. The most fun course I ever played. Probably around 5,000 yards but SUPER TIGHT with tricky elavations and dogleg fairways. Lots of risk reward go for broke holes. Any lidar info on that or blueprints whatever you guys do for RCRs?

Got a round in at the Bay today. Was in at -7 with 2 bogeys.
Great job Ben!! This is indeed a 'Happy Fun Golf Course'.. Well planted and some very tough shots to the greens - very well guarded, whether it be a well placed bunker or simply a ground mound...
Good Luck in the competition! Great follow up to Marlette..

Excellent course, your finest in terms of playability and my favorite to be released so far for the WC. A perfect blend of holes on a plot that would be so easy to fall into the trap of milking the cliff edges and ocean backdrops. The holes that are routed inland are just as good as the more dramatic outer holes. My personal favorite holes were the drivable fours because they had genuine misses that punished you for certain pin placements and the green contours made them excitable for drives that finished on the surface. The overall difficulty was extremely well balanced, some hefty distances but forgiving green speeds to give all players a good chance of birdie.
The planting and plot and fit perfectly and your job of a NZ style course was truly pulled off and again, I have to take my hat off to you for not getting sucked into completely overdoing the cliffside and instead mixing up the flow of the routing and views. The template holes you purposely implemented worked out ust as you wanted and they show good knowledge and understanding of the principles, these are the key to providing true variety in a course.
I had only one single criticism whilst laying through the pin sets, hole 6, 13 and 15 - the shorter par threes... they all felt and sort of looked the same. I might be mistaken but are all three of these greens triple tiered? It certainly felt like they were but just at different angles. I personally felt that nothing separated these three holes apart from one another.
With the usual template matrix code display in mind this is how I interpreted the holes...
1) Cape 2) Long 3) Hogs Back 4) Redan/two shot Redan 5) Maiden 6) Original hole 7) Leven 8) Original hole 9) Punchbowl 10) Original hole 11) Original hole 12) Prize Dogleg 13) Original hole 14) Knoll 15) Original hole 16) Valley 17) Road 18) Eden*

Maybe I needed to employ some sort of swale on the green... I'm glad you enjoyed the course and that most of my template interpretations matched yours! 3 as a Hogsback is interesting, but I can definitely see the theme with it. It's really nice to hear so much praise from you and others about the inland holes. They were some of my favourites and a few that should be terrible with lighting (5, 9 and 17 come to mind ultimately worked out as some of my favourites). The driveable fours definitely used up the two best design ideas I've had in the last few months, so time to get the thinking cap on again!
