The 2019-2020 Golf Course Architecture Sketching Contest
Greetings!
I have had this Idea for a while and I am really excuted to present this to you guys today. As you know I love to draw sketches or golf holes before I design them. I wand to start a contest for golf sketches!
I know this is not a true and real design contest but I hope it can become something worth being a part of.
This contest is not only to showcase our great sketchers and artist but it is also done to expand the practice to people who don’t do it often. It’s supposed to be a learning experience for most and also just to have fun with sketching. Let the mind run wild and deaign a course without going into the designer.
Truly this is one of my favorite times when designing a new course. Break out the blank sheets and thrown down Ideas that I wasnt even thinking of in my head and just letting my hand do the work. I want everyone who wants to try this to maybe feel that same experience. You don’t have to be good at this either to entoer in this contest. Enter for your own enjoyment and pleasure.

* Sketch a strategically and visually appealing course.
* Create a map that defines the routing of the course.
* Create a topography map with either shading kr topography lines.
* Create a hole by hole sketch of the course
* Give off an Idea or vibe of a certain course or architect style.
* Creat a “true atmosphere” for each hole (make it realistic)

What this is a part of:
This is going to be run in part by the TGCDA which is the association I’ve tried to start up for a while. You do not have to join by any means but we want to let you know.
How do I sign up?:
Thanks so much for taking interest and this thread will also be the sign up thread so just shout “In” when you want! The sign up window will be closing December 1st!
When will this contest be taking place?:
The earliest you can start your fantastic drawings are December 1st. And the contest will be running till January 15th (Which is oddly my birthday). The latest you can submit your project is the 20th of January.
How will the contest run and what will the elimination process be?:
Let’s first kick this off by saying nobody will be losing in this contest. This is supposed to be super casual and everyone should just be exploring their designing abilities. The contest will run in our new TGCDA format.
What is the TGCDA format?
The format is designed to randomize and make the contest interesting. The contestants will be paired into couples and there will be a coin toss. The couples will be assigned into groups 1 or 2. The person with their first letter of their username that’s earlier in the alphabet will be heads and the other contestant will be tails. When the coin is flipped. If heads, that contestant will be put into group one if tails the other contestant will be in group one. This process will continue after everyone is put into a group. Once everyone is in a group. The contest will be run in a bracket style form.
GOOD LUCK!
