That's amazing. Great explanation ErixonStone - had no idea about any of this. So the darkest part of the oil patterns means the least amount of oil? And the more oil, the less traction on a ball to 'move' it as it goes down the lane. Is that correct? Really hope they get the oil patterns in the game correct because that would certainly add a whole other level of strategy to the game. I've watched/read more about bowling today than all the rest of my life combined. I might even buy a bowling shirt now. Get that Charlie Sheen look going on... #Winning

Of course I'm interested but with the power company flipping the switch on & off lately on half the state it's hard to commit to anything but put me down. That's horrible what PG&E are putting you all through. They really need to fix their sht and do it without raising rates. We had friends who lived in Paradise, they were ok but lost everything. My wife's cousin lives in Napa and is on the edge right now. Stay safe man. The Paradise catastrophe was just awful man. Glad to hear your friends situation wasn't worse! The pits about our situation here is that we're not in a "zone". We're on the freakin' coast but a grid that feeds a zone just east an hour or so runs right through the coastal area here so they get shut down we do!
Ya gotta' feel a lot of this could have been maybe avoided to a degree if PG&E had been dispersing their infrastructure funds in the right direction(s) over the last 25yrs but instead they'd been lining their pockets. A lot of prevention work went by the wayside over those years. Shame!
Anyway, sorry fella's didn't mean to detour the subject matter here just a bit on edge lately! Back to bowling & nevada, our thoughts go out to your wife's Cousin man!

I'm starting to get in to a groove on this game a bit. Upped my average from less than 200 to around 230 now. Rolled my first 800+ in a three game set. Had another 300 game in a tournament and a couple of close ones in career mode.
A guy sent me a message that I am a cheater for getting 300. His exact words "Nice job cheat. I know you cheat since 300 is mathmaticaly impossible w the game. you probably vote for Trump loser." So that's real nice. I especially love the politics tie in at the end because that's relevant.
I think my lack of bowling knowledge will hurt me once they fix some things to be more sim-like. Really nervous understanding how to read oil patterns. Will be a slow learning process for me.
So much like golf to me - master a repeatable motion and the game seems super easy when it goes correctly. Step outside that threshold even slightly and it's a sh$t-show really quick. I love the challenge of trying to be perfect.
Going to take my lunch break at work and watch bowling videos. I got the fever.

What's that mean in English? Each bowling lane has 39 boards. What he is saying is there is so much oil on both the left and right sides of the lane from the 1st board to the 15th you get your bowling ball out there it won't get back to the pocket(The 1-3 for righty or 1-2 for lefty) Keep in mind the “volume” of oil plays a huge part as well. Sport League patterns will not always play the same as it would on the tour. Conditioners cost money, and most proprietors are not willing to spend the additional dollars to fully replicate the pattern. In most cases you’ll get a modified house shot. PBA has lane machines that are spot on, and clean when laying a pattern down. Most local bowling alleys are not, therefore don’t simulate a particular pattern. Additional things to factor in how a shot plays from pair to pair - lane topography (sometimes it can feel as if you’re bowling uphill, etc) - temperature inside the bowling alley, and humidity or lack-there-of - dead/shiny boards will affect where you play I could go on, but you get the idea.

I picked this up the other night (PS4) and really am enjoying it, but the lack of a decent tutorial or instruction on how to throw the ball makes the learning curve pretty high. It seems the power meter doesn’t work or I’m not doing something. Also, I’ve read the amount of break on the ball it set when you throw, but I can only throw it straight and then use the joy stick to curve it down the lane. Just started career. I’m in for whatever you want to put together! High game 245 with 7 strikes in a row.

Just finished up PBA West in career mode. Here's my career stats. No idea how this measures up to you guys that know what you're doing. I'm not great on some of the difficult splits - trying to work on that. The 299 really stings - was in the finals of PBA West Region last tournament and I hit the speed I wanted and the pocket like all previous throws...the 10 pin got bumped but balanced out and stood standing. Ouch. I have a couple of smaller tournaments where I didn't get a 'gold star' that I might go back and play again. No idea how you are supposed to unlock some of the balls with lvl 999 requirements or thousands of golden pins. I guess that is the micro-transaction model?? I keep unlocking balls right now that I can't afford. Only 50k or so tickets. Still really enjoying this game though.

Yep, that's the microtransaction model. From experience with the mobile game, you'll eventually get to a point where you'll unlock a ball that just gives you golden pins and you can grind until you earn enough of them.
The game plays a lot like an RPG in that respect. Just tons of grinding.

Career mode seems fairly deep at this point (meaning lots of tournaments to get through as well as challenges to beat using specific balls I don't even have yet). I don't mind a little grind if I enjoy the game. I can't remember the exact 'payout' of that lvl 999 ball, but it was something like 10 golden pins per roll.

You mentioned a patch coming out that was going to fix some things. Is there a site to go to see status, etc.? When I start my swing with the ball the power meter disappears. I also have no idea what make a swing harder or softer? The graphics are really amazing! Would be really a blast if there was a team or league mode. I love to bowl for real and leagues are fun, but physically just too hard for me as a once or twice a year bowler.
