Caldera Furiosa aka "The Angry Cauldron" is a fantasy course set in a not quite dormant caldera. The eccentric billionaire course designer Jaron Pauls spared no expense on creating a dramatic and unforgettable golfing experience. From it's boiling crater lake up to its jagged rocky outer rim this monstrous par 73 course will challenge every shot with its variety of elevation changes, deeply sculpted bunkers and boldly shaped greens. This course demands to be played over and over again as you learn how to use every slope and angle to your advantage. Pins 1-3 are fairly similar in difficulty while pin 4 adds some extra heat for those who want it a bit harder. Recommended Tees: Green Tees: 6,822 yds. 6,238 m. These are for Beginner Clubs or anyone who just wants an easy casual round. White Tees: 7,154 yds. 6,541 m. These are for a more challenging Beginner Club experience or an easier Pro Club round. Blue Tees: 7,582 yds. 6,933 m. These make for a challenging Pro Club round and a reasonably difficult Master Club challenge. Black Tees 8,263 yds. 7,556 m. These are the expert/tournament tees and dial the difficulty way up for those who want to be punished. Master Clubs recommended. Played a great match against @bovakian here earlier off the tips on pin 4. So many brave choices here and some very fun holes. That par six is certainly unique! Will say that for a long course, it actually didn't feel super long the whole way round, which is cool. Best of luck with this; you've clearly taken a lot of time and care on this.

Pin 4 off the tips is what I refer to as Furiosa mode. I shot +19 on those settings 2 days ago when I was super rusty from spending all my time planting. You really need to work with the slopes of the green to get your birdy chances on pin 4. Thanks for all the feedback.

Got a round in on pin 2 from the tips, course ate me up for a +5...
Have to say I was engaged the entire round. This course is very visually pleasing and has a whole lot of options on a lot of the holes. Didn't even realize the 800 yarder was a par 6 until I found myself trying to chip in for eagle. That was a nice surprise as you just don't see that everyday.
Great job, I'm sure this will make it on tour someday! Good luck!

I noticed your name on the leaderboards so I'll have to load up your ghost next time I play. Still working my way through the rest of the courses I missed while finishing this up so I will get to yours pretty soon. I made this course play quite differently from each tee which meant the effective landing zone on any given hole could vary by as much as 100 yds or more. This made it pretty much mandatory to give tons of options on each hole. For example while doing my final round of testing I (stupidly) played pin 4, black tees and master clubs first was super rusty and shot +19 then worked my way down to pin 1, green tees and beginner clubs and shot a -14. I think this gives the course a lot of replayability over a wide range of difficulties. I still haven't put much time into trying master clubs from the green tees but I do know that it makes 18 drivable so that could make for a really fun round too. I also just got the tour worthy stamp yesterday so I am pretty pumped about that. Glad you liked it.

Great job done here.....enviroment, shots, elevation... this is the first contest course in my 13 months at TGC that I have seen so far out of the box....... the color palette and course layout is pure fantasy, how the judges react to this could spark a design evolution perhaps..... I can see this one on of the top tier tours. Goodluck in the comp this course shoukd do very well.... c ongrays on the tourworthyness........if this is what your fist course looks like I cant wait to see more.

Thanks, it was a lot of fun to make. Not my first course though, I have 2 others. The first one I made (Rustic Lakes Golf Retreat) in the first 3 weeks of getting the game in May, I literally played the tutorials and went straight into the editor. That course is me just messing with the tools and figuring things out. It's starts pretty bad and then gets to be ok by the end. Then I took what I learnt and made Dawn's Walk which took about 6 weeks. I made that as an easy course for my wife who tried my first course and rage quit after 2 holes. I also figured I should at least try to see if I could make something more straightforward before diving back into ridiculous fantasy courses. That one got approved to the database but still has a bunch of rookie mistakes, overall though it's pretty good and well worth a play if your interested. I was working on a few other courses before this contest started. I was hoping to finish Longclaw Point before the contest started but it still needs more polish and planting. That course is on an island with a high plateau and a lower beach that wraps around it. Another course I have that has all the routing finished but still needs a ton of work is The Climb to Deadman's Peak which is a very over the top mountain climb course where you start in the foothills and wind your way up to the peak. This one has some pretty crazy hole designs and should be extremely entertaining. I have a few other very partial courses that probably won't see the light of day but were very good practice. I did some work on Longclaw today and got re familiarized with it. But I probably won't be able to release it for awhile since I am moving town's next week and it will take quite some time to get everything sorted and settled in.

Dude. What a course. I wish I read the notes because pro clubs from the tips was not fun lol. But agree with MyGolfGameSucks on how it goes over with judges. Because while it’s a “fantasy” course, it’s done extremely well. I had a blast playing it and the amount of effort you put in is evident. Great job and good luck.

This course will certainly be the most memorable and boldest of all the courses submitted in this Rookie contest. It will also probably be the most polarizing with the judges however. I loved the creativity and the chances you took here. #cajoneslargo
