Well.. I found the repository for Arizona's LiDAR data. Unfortunately, none of this data is classified. Fortunately, I dont often give into challenges and I was able to figure out how to classify the data using ArcGIS pro.

So far, I have publsihed beta versions of the following courses - please check these out! the LiDAR classification algorithms in ArcGIS actually do a pretty nice job. The only limitation with the ArcGIS algorithms with Chad's tool is the trees from LiDAR data dont really come through. I'd say ~5% of the vegetation is auto-planted by the tool - not a huge deal since these course layouts/undulations are incredible. Also - some of the larger boulders in the AZ desert were classified as ground points by ArcGIS so there was some manual flattening required.

I'm looking for volunteers to help me OSM the best courses in Arizona.  I have already characterized the best OSM overlay (mapbox/esri/esri clarity/bing) for my list of courses, but I need help completing all the OSM before my ArcGIS pro licenses expire. My primary goal is to get beta versions of the following courses completed in the next 2 weeks:

We-ko-pa (both courses)
Ak-Chin southern dunes
DC Ranch 
Silverleaf @ DC Ranch
Seven Canyons (sedona)
Forest Highlands (Flagstaff)
Pine Canyon (Flagstaff)
Grayhawk (both courses)
Whispering rock

Dove Mountain (2 courses for sure)

I will be working to classify LiDAR data for all of these courses over the next few days. I would love some help from the community to put AZ lidar courses on TGC! Please reach out if you'd like to help or if you know of a hidden gem in AZ not on my list.

I’d be willing to help out with the OSM for the Grayhawk Raptor course, given the course is going to host the next 3 years of the D1 college golf championships.

I’m working on other osm projects currently so I won’t have this one done for awhile, but I should be able to get this done and ready for you a few months before the college tournament.

based on my testing, Mapbox satellite is the matches up with the LiDAR data perfectly for Grayhawk, so when you go to outline on OSM, make sure you select MB as the imagery instead of the stock bing imagery.

Hey mngolfdesigns I was thinking more about Grayhawk and I don't think I'm gonna be able to map it out. For me mapping takes a long time to do, and I'm not super committed to Grayhawk anyway, so for me I'd rather work on a PGA Tour course or some other high-ranking course. Super sorry. You should go on ahead and do the whole thing yourself, however I'd love to give you feedback as you work on the course!

I'm currently mapping out Dinosaur Mountain...hopefully you can still get the Lidar for it...such an amazing course

I know this an older post but I’m in the process of working through OSM of victory course in Verrado. Was wondering if you have the LAS files for that area

FYI, the "lidar" data that Dwight found and processed isn't worthwhile for building courses. There is actual classified and very accurate lidar data for the greater Phoenix area, but the course you are doing isn't yet available to the public. I have been working with the GIS department and they were hoping to get more lidar data indexed and uploaded for public access within the next few months, but the COVID thing has pushed back this timeframe.

Last I inquired, there wasn't lidar data yet reaching out to Desert Forest. If and when it's available, I would make an effort to try and pitch in on that project. That would be far down the list, though, so I'm in no hurry.

I want to do a Lidar design of Blackstone in Peoria...amazingly fun course in real and the simulator. Anyone have LAS files or direction to them?
