Atchafalaya Isle is my entry into the rookie contest.
The course is a par 71 carved through the bayou of south Louisiana. There is plenty of water, sand, and bushes to deal with around the course but also plenty of chances to score.
Thanks to everyone who helped put this together, I'm hoping to get a lot of helpful feedback through this course and contest.

Very cool course here. Perfect example of having an idea and sticking to it. Love the short par 4s to balance the longer par 3s on the back. How in the world did you not run out of plant meter??

James, played a round tonight, stunning.. You really captured that Louisiana Bayou vibe from the colors down to the haze.
Outstanding, thoroughly enjoyed my round. I think you have a winner!
I was on the lookout for a gator or two....

Thanks for the plays, I'm glad you both enjoyed it. The plant meter was very close to maxed out but I figured out on this course that spam planting gets you much more for less meter than multi planting. Probably takes more time but i enjoy the planting part of designing.
Also, there is 1 gator hanging out there.

I've often wondered if there was any difference in the meter usage if using clusters as opposed to dropping plants one by one..

That's the impression I got with planting but someone with more experience may know for sure.

Played this with buddies on stream tonight and was really impressed. I'll definitely be back to play this one again, not to mention it wouldn't surprise me at all to see this on a tour in the future. Absolutely LOVED the commitment to the environment and the planting was top-shelf. Great job!

Just got back from vacation and watched most of the stream. Thanks for streaming it and the kind words about the course.
Haha Since its come up on each time (all 2 of them) someone has streamed a course of mine. . . I am not, nor am I related to, ArcticFury. But I take it as a compliment that anyone even jokingly entertains the thought.

I just played this one and was very impressed. The execution of this theme was amazing and unique and it wouldn't surprise me if we see people trying to copy it in the future. A couple of specific things I really liked were the boardwalk over sea of bushes look on some of the front 9 holes and the bunkers with the retaining wall at the back on hole 10. Playability was also quite good. I liked a lot of the choices I had to make, like how you put 1 tree on 11 and 18 making you think twice about the layup shots and be extra careful with club choice. This course should get you pretty far in this contest.
I'd also like to add something to an earlier conversation in this thread about the plant meter. I used to make tracks for some of the older trials games and if you placed an object with the exact same orientation it used less data in the course file. If the coding is similar in this game that would explain why spam planting uses less plant meter.

There's a few courses in this competition that really stand out, and this is one of them. I was so immersed in the atmosphere that i forgot to look for the gator. Can't wait to play this again. You will do just fine with this course.

Really nice course here with a very cool vibe, well done! I maybe could have done with a little more contouring on the greens and slightly wider fairways but all in all it played very nicely. Good luck moving forward and hope to see more from you in the future.

You've created a great atmosphere here and a fun course with some good strategies that aren't always obvious. Really nice job, I expect to see this one do well in the competition.
