My wife and I decided our little area of Canada need more recreational activities for young adults but also something to cater to older folks too. We came up with an idea of opening a VR Arcade. It took 5 months of planning and a lot of hard work but it is finished and we currently have an 8 station arcade with no other one in a 150-200 Km radius. Our opening tonight was subdued, as we didn't really promote ourselves. While we had hoped to be open by Oct 1st, computers issues, shipping delays, funding and contractors taking 3 weeks off for hunting season (it is rural Canada), we surprised ourselves and was able to open up. So now we are starting to do some marketing and will be having our grand opening in a month or so.
This is one of the reasons I have been so busy lately. Personally I'm very proud of the work we accomplished to get things looking good. Naturally, there are a dozen or more things I'd like to have gotten done, I can't complain with how it all turned out. We use the very high end HTC Vive Pro, with extra wands. We also built some really beefy machines to run all that VR goodness, along with some networking equipment. Our last testing station had 8 kids all playing a once and while there were a couple of technical glitches, they all left having a great time and even their parents tried it.
Oh and before anyone asks, I'm planning to offer any golf games right now. Sadly games like boxing, tennis and even golf have a way of breaking wands against the walls. So if you are around the Ottawa Valley, look us up at ovpowerplay.com
So I'm going to share a few pictures:
View from our counter/desk.
View from the front door. We have game rooms on the right and left that hold 2 stations each and 3-8 people. Behind them are 5 single stations for 1-2 people. Two single stations. And one of our gaming room.

Congrats man, I hope it does well for you. We have a VR arcade here in Reno but I've never been to it because I own a PSVR.
What games do you have? Also do you allow people to surf YouTube VR channels?

Very cool. Need to run those wires through the wall though. GL. We do need to clean up the wires a bit, the problem is that wall has steel beams through it, so we have to weigh the options of where we want to drill and how we would feed. Some of the longer wires it would be blocked. So I may have to try longer wires to go up through the ceiling and come back down. To be honest we were in crunch time due to contractors being on hunting trips and computer parts coming in late, so I was more worried about things functioning than looks. We'll tidy it up eventually.
As for games, we have some of the popular titles, Beat Saber, Arizona Sunshine, Job Simulator, ect. At this time people can only play the titles we offer as we have commercial licensing agreements we have to adhere too. We may in the end allow people to access their own steam accounts in the future but we are still undecided on that. There will be no surfing of anything.

Lmao.
It's hard to find people to get sh%$ done. Ironic thats a game.
Respect the risk you have taken. Just remember you are only as good as your worst employee. Which sometimes can be you.

Which sometimes can be you. Good game and an example of a game that only works in VR. Takes place in the future where most menial jobs are done by computers and you're a human playing a simulation version of what the computers think those jobs were like back in the days that humans did them. Almost impossible to play without laughing. Doubt I'll drive the 5 or 6 hours each way to visit but best of luck to you. It's cool that VR is helping to bring back the arcade concept(although I still think to call something an arcade it should be required to have a pinball machine) and anything that gets VR gaming out to more people is a good thing. I know I was skeptical until I got my PSVR but I was quickly won over and hope we're just in the early days of VR gaming having a long and successful run.
