Changes to WGR effective immediately!

Hey guys.

First off thanks for questioning the WGR. You were right, it was slightly flawed. Here's how.

• Basically the current formula gave everyone outside the top 25 in their respective tournaments the same amount of points.
• Also for the lower tours, the factor was so low, that the points distribution was often < .00025 so the guys on the lower tours really never saw any change.

So, I have made the following changes based on the below point chart -- now every finisher will get some kind of points:

Given the below chart, there are also other factors in play:

• PGA and EURO members, get the full points as allocated below in the chart.
• WEB A (60% of allocated points from the chart)
• WEB B (50% of allocated points from the chart)
• WEB C (40% of allocated points from the chart)
• CHAMP A (25% of allocated points from the chart)
• CHAMP B (10% of allocated points from the chart)
  

Also...

• Majors get 200% of points below.
• WGC events get 150% of points below
• Removed the SoF bump for Majors and WGC since those were already inflated. (this will prevent that craziness from the HTOC from happening again)
• The SoF now gives a bump instead of a reduction (ex. SoF is .43, it now adds 1 to make it 1.43 so this will give you a 43% bump instead of the previous method - 57% reduction)
  

I also put in the following to handle "recent performance"

• Now the points will only pull the last 13 weeks worth of points + (avg of all your points over a 2-year outside of the most recent 13) period.
• This is how the real OWGR handles the recent performance factor
• Also throwing out week 1 when doing the 2-year average so the inflated HTOC doesn't affect results.

I ran some tests and this is going to be MUCH better than the current system and you will see much more true progressions/digressions.

Will go info effect starting after this week's tournaments. It will work itself out. Too much trouble and risk to start all over.

You should see your progression meter start to fluctuate a lot more starting next week!

Great work.

I just wonder about one thing:

71st to 80th 3
81st to 100th 2
101st to 200th 1

Today the leaderboards are updated after 4 rounds even for those players who miss the cut.
If you play through all 4 rounds and score good, you will end up higher on the leaderboard than if you only play two rounds.

I see three straightforward solutions:
a) Keep everything as it is. Acknowledge people who want to play all 4 rounds even if they MC
b) Remove all scores for R3 and R4 for people who miss the cut (I've missed a couple of cuts, but like to see that number and check how high I could have ended if I hadn't choked in R1)
c) Keep total strokes after R3 and R4 for those who miss the cuts, but don't change their position after R2.

My vote is for a) or c).

Nice work.
Could anyone check my ranking, to see if I was the most unlucky one out there? I was never outside top 100 on world ranking, except THAT ONE WEEK where it was decided who got to play... Or am I misunderstanding the system?

Wooot! Im in? Just checked the field now, and started to wonder when I saw "withdraw", as I have newer entered... and not gotten any mail about it.(yes, I checked my spam!)
When I checked the field yesterday I wasnt in, so this is (hopefully) a nice surprise!
