Hi guys. I haven't been able to be around much in the last month or so I thought I would make a post about what I've been working on. Admittedly, I haven't had much time to design but have had this one on the back burner for a little while.
I have been working on a creating a championship links. The inspiration came mostly from Irish links, where there is more elevation changes with the more wild sand dunes. The course is laid out and sculpted, here are a few photos of the closing hole:
Artisan
However, also on this plot is a sub-6000 yard, par 67 Artisan course. This idea came from a lot of old links that have a main course and a short course. I tried a new technique with this that is a bit different.. While the championship course has a lot of natural elevation, the Artisan course started as a flat plot that I then spent a couple of hours making random ridges throughout the whole of the area for the course. After I had a rumpled piece of land I tried to lay the holes down without touching the sculpting, to try and make the holes feel completely natural. Obviously minor touch-ups were needed here and there, but for the most part the sculpting was all done through a couple of hours of running ridges through the property. It led to some pretty unique greens that are fun to navigate. The Artisan course will be released soon and then the Championship will follow. Here are a few of the Artisan course:
If anyone hasn't been bored off yet.. I am also thinking about doing some kind of competition, where the person with the lowest score on the Artisan Course (prior to the Championship course's release) will have there initials, or nametag abbreviation, included in the name of the Championship course. Would have to think about the logistics if that sounds like something people would be interested in participating in.
