DRUIDS GLEN GOLF COURSE
Enjoy the tranquillity of the mystical Druids Glen, with manicured tree-lined fairways, historical landmarks, spectacular water features and vibrant floral displays.
This famous course designed by Pat Ruddy & Tom Craddock, opened in 1995. Just a year after opening, Druids Glen hosted the Irish Open for four years in a row. Colin Montgomerie won two years running, followed by David Carter and Sergio Garcia, shooting a 64 in the final round. Druids Glen has hosted the prestigious Seve Trophy, a bi-annual event between the leading Tour Players of Britain & Ireland and Continental Europe.
When you come to play at Druids Glen, you're playing one of the finest, most challenging, and most enjoyable golf courses in Europe - a course good enough to host the most prominent event in Irish golf.
Signature Holes:
8th Hole - Par 3
The second par 3 is a short one measuring roughly 160 yards to the centre of the green. The danger here is missing the green short and left where there's water awaiting errant tee shots. Long and right isn't much better with bunkers and some nasty lies to cause you some issues.
12th Hole - Par 3
Also known as "St. Patrick" this hole is the start of a two hole stretch featuring two of the most iconic holes in Ireland. From an elevated tee you are required to carry your tee shot across water to a complex green 30 feet below surrounded by a coliseum of trees. A Celtic Cross bush lies beneath the tee box manicured to perfection.
13th Hole - Par 4
After the 12th you turn left and walk up the hill for a fantastic tee shot across a quarry. The par 4 13th is a dogleg right downhill to a fairway split by a stream that runs into a lake left of the green. A brave tee shot is required with driver in hand, a fade off the corner will see the player left with a relatively straight forward approach to a green that is protected by water and trees on both sides.
17th Hole - Par 3
The last of the par 3's on the course brings instant thoughts of the 17th at Sawgrass as you hit you your tee shot to an island green. Short of the green lies a bunker to lend you a hand should you get the club wrong. Get it really wrong and it's a watery grave for you.
