Inaugural NFL Stableford Cup - Meet Me Half Way Power Rankings presented by Columbia RecordsIt's now mid-July, and the NFL Stableford Cup is in full swing. The following are the updated Power Rankings heading into Week 3, the unofficial halfway point of the group stage. I'm going all the way from number 1 to number 15. Let's do this!
1. Washington (2-0)
CoinHen77 &
knothead85 ; After a less-than-stellar Week 1 road win at San Francisco, the CoinHeads brought their “A” game in Week 2 vs. Atlanta. They now get to enjoy a stress-free bye week “Playing With The Boys” as a playoff spot is now firmly in their grasp.
2. Buffalo Bills (1-0)
staypuft39 &
zorbacles ; A consistent performance at home vs. the Jets in a Week 1 win allowed them to rest a little easier during their Week 2 bye. The road ahead will not be easy as the Rams have shown they can get it done at home.
3. Jacksonville Jaguars (1-0)
cathalos1991 &
nancogc ; It’s looking like the Year of the Jaguars after a surprising opening week come-from-behind win vs. a stunned Denver team. The big question now is can they "Keep The Fire" and the momentum going on the road at Arizona coming out of the bye week.
4. Minnesota Vikings (1-0)
awmacv &
bogeyman ; After an opening week bye allowed them to scout the competition, the Vikes survived a tough matchup with the Chiefs on the road in Week 2 to jump out to a crucial 1-0 start. Next they host a Falcons team desperate for a win to stay relevant in the competition.
5. New York Giants (1-1)
TAGROCKET &
RHMIII ; The G-Men had an impressive start in Week 1 with a high-scoring home win vs. the Rams. Week 2 was a different story as they struggled to put anything together at the in-state rival Jets. Which Giants team will show up in Week 3 at Cleveland?
6. New York Jets (1-1)
ddixjr509 &
gamesdecent ; The Jets could easily be 2-0 right now if it wasn’t for some unfortunate bounces at Buffalo in Week 1. Gang Green took flight in Week 2 to beat the Giants by a field goal and now go into their bye week as a top 8 playoff team.
7. Los Angeles Rams (1-1)
CGib2 &
JosiaDB ; The LA Rams may change their name to the CF Rams if they win this competition. In a Week 1 loss, they gave an impressive Giants team all they could handle on the road. While many wrote them off after a slow start at home in Week 2, a furious fourth quarter comeback secured a narrow one point win vs. Cleveland. Which side of a close game will the Rams find themselves on this week vs. Buffalo?
8. New England Patriots (1-1)
moneyman273 &
rhino4life ; The Pats are nestled in the 8th spot after a solid performance in Week 1 vs. Arizona that resulted in a win and a slightly below-average effort at Denver that led to a two-point loss. A make-or-break matchup in Week 3 awaits at Miami on Tuesday.
9. Denver Broncos (1-1)
rob4590 &
jhendricks316 ; After seeing an early lead go up in smoke on the road at Jacksonville in Week 1, the Broncos were able to regroup and put together a very solid Week 2 performance at home vs. New England. They now enjoy their Week 3 bye and look to continue to let their play on the field do the talking for them in the last two weeks of the competition.
10. Cleveland Browns (0-1)
xEB50x &
Koop ; The Browns were the victim of the Cup scoring system after a solid performance in Week 2 at the Rams. It was a gut-wrenching loss knowing they outplayed their opponents for most of the game only to have the rug pulled out from under them. Can they recover from that disappointment and put it all together for their first win at home vs. the Giants in Week 3?
11. Arizona Cardinals (1-1)
Art Vandelay &
LEFTY79 ; After two extremely close matchups at New England and vs. Miami to start the season, this team could easily be 2-0 or 0-2. Both games went down to the wire, with the Cardiac Cards pulling out a mild home upset win in Week 2 vs. Miami. With the Jaguars arriving in the desert in Week 3, can the Cards show once again that there is no place like home?
12. Kansas City Chiefs (1-1)
tylannister &
lawman1474 ; After a lackluster couple of weeks scoring-wise, the Chiefs are lucky to be 1-1 at this point in the competition. In Week 1 they took advantage of a struggling Falcons team and squeaked out an overtime win on the road. In Week 2, their lack of offense cost them in a home loss to the Vikings. Next is a home matchup with the winless 49ers and a chance to assert themselves as a playoff Cup team.
13. Miami Dolphins (0-1)
xcltaff1980 &
thetaffman ; A Week 2 overtime loss at Arizona in their season opener was not how the coaches drew it up. They have had a week to regroup and now have the comforts of home cooking in Week 3 vs. New England. If there is a must-win game for a team this week “This Is It” as the rival Patriots, also coming off a loss, will be looking to shake-and-bake their way to a playoff spot.
14. San Francisco 49ers (0-1)
crushtastic & @bovakian ; The Week 2 bye was just what the doctor ordered as the 49ers had a rough go of it at home in Week 1 vs. Washington. A bright spot is that they showed some fight after getting down early. If they can kick it up a notch in Week 3 at Kansas City, they have a chance at making a playoff run.
15. Atlanta Falcons (0-2)
b101 &
lessangster ; The Falcons have had their wings clipped in the first two weeks of the competition. After losing a winnable game Week 1 vs. Kansas City at home, their fortunes turned for the worse after Washington went off on them in Week 2. The task doesn’t get any easier for them as they now ride into the "danger zone" at Minnesota in an attempt to salvage their Cup season.
Good luck to all teams for the remainder of the group stage!
