Greetings,
I want to first of all say that nobody did anything to make this happen and this is my possible decision. I believe my courses that I am publishing are not the best I can make. The fact that only two of my courses are tour worthy shows that the courses are subpar for myself. This means I’m either hitting the reset button myself or fully removing myself from the community and start doing regular drawings. I want to make courses that not only make me feel good but others too. The only reason to build a course at all is for the enjoyment of others. If I’m only getting 300 plays per course, I don’t see a point in making another course anytime soon. I really don’t want to sound egotistical or narcissistic when I write this but I hoped I was a little better when I made these courses and I wish I had a better end product to give to people. I want to congratulate the top 5 nominees for the CC Contest and thanks for making my possible last contest a fun one.
Warm Regards, Dylan

Hi pal,
Totally up to you, obviously. What I would say is that the moment you don't enjoying designing, stop. That should be your reason for doing it. If you're after plays, then you're doing this for the wrong reasons and will always second-guess yourself. Loads of good courses get released every day and getting people to play them once or more than once is tough. That's fine, the fun is in drawing them up, making them look good and that's what we should get a kick out of. Tour worthy means very little IMO.
I think you're focusing on the wrong things. Enjoy what you do and you'll feel a lot better.
Also, it's tough. There are some bloody awesome courses that didn't make the top five - I had two of them as locks. It's tough. I bet they won't pack in designing, because that's not what they're in it for.

Warm Regards, Dylan Not sure if this'll come out overly harsh or not, but I'll explain what I mean. I think you 100% should take a break from contests for a while. That being said, you obviously love course design, and I think you'd be doing yourself a disservice if you completely quit designing based on not achieving the unrealistically high expectations you set for yourself. While I can't speak for everyone, I was designing for a good while before ever entering a contest, and then still took a couple attempts before I ever broke a top 5. Most designers are going to have a similar story. Maybe just focus on doing what you enjoy at whatever pace you want, and just have fun with it.

If it helps, I was amongst the first round of cuts, disappointed, yes, but still got some good feedback and more plays than my first publish. I think it topped out at 168 plays.
I did publish a v2.0, but I probably should've waited until I read the judges comments.
Anyway, ultimately do what you feel is good for you.

I'll +1 what Matt said. Setting expectations for a top 5 is a fool's game. It takes 4-5 entries to really figure out what works and what the Judges are looking for. Setting more realistic expectations like get scheduled on PGA, Euro, Web, CC Tour may be more helpful to your mind set. So while you dont finish top ?? but your course still ends up on a Tour maybe you'll feel like your time wasn't wasted in the Designer.
IMO- Bold tougher courses (such as yours) really only cater to the more advanced players. Aesthetic, Immersive courses that are less difficult tend to appeal to the masses. But you have to figure that out before you start your design, Goal A- top 10?, Goal B make a specific TGC Tour.
Side note- I had already scheduled Empire Pines for weekend Casuals Society tournament- you should see a huge jump in plays next week (+/- 500 active x 3 rds).
