**If you are interested in becoming a member of the team, let me know! We have a catcher, some starting pitchers and relievers and a shortstop still available. **Warning: you will probably be traded at some point, but we will continue to follow your career! I have been doing daily streams, so feel free to pop in to see how you are performing! I'll also update on the thread as the season(s) progresses.
As some of you know, my new obsession is Out of The Park Baseball 20 (think Football Manager, but with baseball. Insane amounts of detail.). What I love about this game is the customization (and the fact I can play this on my wife's laptop, giving me time to still play a few minutes here and there between baby naps) . I've recently created a 36 team fictional league (The NABL - North American Baseball League). Fictional players were selected in a inaugural draft in 2019. Last night on stream a few of us thought it might be fun to rename some players to TGCT athletes. So here we go.

League Setup - Current Year: 2022. As stated earlier, the NABL is a 36 team league split into Northern and Southern Conferences and divisions go east to west. Each team has a AAA,AA,A Short Season A, and Rookie Ball farm team. Here are the 36 teams:
2019 Champions: Washington Eagles
2020 Champions: Winnipeg Frostbite
2021 Champions: Philadelphia Freedom
2022 Champions: Chicago Cardinals
2019 Champions: Washington Eagles
2020 Champions: Winnipeg Frostbite
2021 Champions: Philadelphia Freedom
2022 Champions: Chicago Cardinals
Team History: The first two seasons for the Bruins have both resulted in playoff berths, but heartbreaking playoff exits.
2019: Finished with an 87-75 record, good enough for second in the NC West division and a playoff spot. Unfortunately, we lose in the first round in 5 games (best of 5 the first round) to the Baltimore Blackbirds despite being up 2-1 in the series.
2020: Finished with an 108-54 record, good for tops in the NC West division and best record in the league. Again though, we suffer a heartbreaking loss to division rival San Jose Hawks, taking us down in the first round in 5 games.
2021: Finsihed with a 105-57 record, locking up another division title and best record in the league. Playoff run was a bit deeper, but the Bruins were downed in 6 games to the eventual champion Philadelphia Freedom in the Conference Championship Series.
Meet The Team (not the whole team, just the TGC guys):
Victor Lane (26yrs old/$600,000) VctryLnSprts . Second Basemen. Victor was picked up in a trade with Oklahoma City in July 2019, and struggled in the back half of that season. Victor picked things up in his 2020 season hitting .266 in a leadoff role and stealing 33 bases. Victor is still on a rookie contract and will be making the league minimum this year (and next). The solid speed and bat combo SHOULD keep him in Vancouver for the next couple years at least.
Dom "E" Nader (24yrs old/$600,000) 2019 Northern Conference Rookie of the Year, 2020 Northern Conference All-Star, 2020 Silver Slugger at 3B. Third Basemen TheDominator273
Dom was selected in the third round of the inaugural draft in 2019 by Vancouver and went on to have a sensational rookie year, winning Rookie of the Year honors. He followed that up with a 2020 season that saw him hit 28 HR and 109 RBI, while hitting .323...proving there is no sophomore slump with him. Entering his arbitration year, Dom will be looking to play well and potentially entice Vancouver into signing him to a long term deal....but can the Bruins afford him?
Dan "Catcherman" Blanton (32 yrs old/$22,000,000) 2019 and 2020 Northern Conference All-Star, 2020 Silver Slugger at RF. Designated Hitter catcherman22
The nickname came from Dan playing catcher through Little League, but switching to the outfield in college. Dan was Vancouver's very first selection in the inaugural draft and is currently locked into a deal that will pay him 22,000,000 per year until 2025. He does have a player option in 2023 though, which may see Dan voiding the last two years of his contract to test the market if he continues his stellar play. 2020 saw Dan hit 47 HR and 128 RBI, hitting .318. As the cornerstone of the franchise, Dan will surely be a part of the club for the next couple years at least.
Drew Kaleta (31yrs old/$20,750,000) 2019 Northern Conference All-Star. Left Field warrior009
The third member of the most dangerous middle lineup in the NABL, Kaleta was a massive free agent signing heading into the 2020 season. His 2019 season with Detroit saw him drive in a league leading 161(!!) RBIs. 2020 saw Blanton hitting cleanup in Vancouver and knocking in 137 RBI, while hitting 47 dongers of his own. Drew is locked up until 2024 and Vancouver hopes his production will continue has he enters his early/mid 30s.
Scott Doyley (32yrs old/$17,000,000) First Basemen Doyley
Doyley has been with the team from the very start, a 9th round selection in the inaugural draft in 2019. Scott has had two solid seasons at 1B, avoiding injury. Doyley is locked up until the end of next year, but recent scouting reports in the off season have shown the beginnings of a decline in skill. It is unclear if Doyley will make it through the end of the year with the club, or if he will be dumped for some youth/prospects.
Tim "The Founder" Owens (24 yrs old/$600,000) Right Field. Tim
Owens was an early pick in the 2019 rookie draft and has risen the ranks quite quickly in the Vancouver farm system, starting in AA. Tim spent the back half of the 2020 season with the big club, impressing coaches with is bat and strong arm in right field, forcing the coach to put Owens in RF, moving Blanton to DH. This is Tim's first full season with the major league team and the future looks bright. A long term fit with Vancouver, or trade bait? Time will tell.
Griffin "Doubtful" Ray (27 yrs old/$9,000,000) Center Field DoubtfulObelisk
Perhaps the biggest question mark on the team is Ray, a player with blazing speed and some good power. Ray had a great 2019, which saw him batting leadoff where he joined the rare 30/30 club (30 HR and 30 stolen bases...he actually had 31 HR and 37 SB). The allowed Griffin to get a huge payday in arbitration. However, Ray lost his leadoff spot to Victor Lane and spent most of the year batting further down the order where he struggled. Still a decent year, but nowhere near his 2019 production. Ray becomes a free agent at the end of the year, leaving the Bruins in a spot to potentially deal him at the trade deadline....or sign him to something potentially long term if he plays well. We will see as rumors are already swirling this pre-season that Ray wants out of Vancouver.
Jack Reed (24 yrs old/$600,000) Shortstop sire0329
Reed was a prospect acquired in the inaugural draft who was supposed to spend a few years in the minors before moving up to the big club. However, early injuries forced Jack up earlier than hoped. He struggled in his first stint with the Bruins, but flourished in 2020, showing he was one of the best defensive shortstops in the game. However, injuries have plagued the young Reed, with September injuries in 2019 and 2020 forcing him to miss both playoff appearances thus far. Jack is looking to stay healthy and become a force in his arbitration year.
Jeff "Goats" Reese (27 yrs old/$14,937,500) Starting Pitcher SmilingGoats
Reese is another player that has been with the Bruins from the start. Reese is the #2 guy in the rotation currently and has come off two decent seasons, but hasn't materialized into the superstar that many thought he would have been. The Bruins were hesitant to sign him to a big deal, so arbitration paid him almost $15 million for the 2021 season. Jeff is a free agent at the end of the year, but good pitching is hard to come by. A good early start may see the Bruins lock him up to an extension, but his final game of the 2020 season was the worst game of his career, coming in the playoffs where he didn't get out of the second inning. Sport psychologists are worried that start may stick with him and affect his season. A very important next few months for Reese.
Geoff "OY" Browne (29 yrs old/$5,590,000) 2020 Northern Conference All-Star, 2020 Northern Conference Reliever of The Year. Closer gdog
Geoff is an elite ground-ball pitcher and the most effective reliever in the league. Browne was picked up in free agency before the 2020 season, as Phoenix failed to sign him to an extension. Geoff matched his save total from the previous year with 47, but his numbers were even better than 2019, making him a pure shutdown closer. When asked in recent interviews what he thinks about when he's on the mound, the answer was just one word...."Barbara". The first MLB player from England has turned heads and Vancouver has him locked up until the end of next year (where Browne has a player option). Don't expect Geoff to go anywhere this season.
