Glad our tour is able to get in and play Oakland hills before they shut it down for remodel! (yes, I love the fact we play real courses and I love going out and looking up the real one before we play it.) It will be pretty easy for the people that can put the ball within a couple feet of wherever they want.
For the rest of us though, better get your puttin' britches on! Those greens are tricky if you aren't within 5 feet of the hole!
I was feeling really good about myself for 3/4 of the course, then managed to bogie the last four holes one after another. The only hole I truly was in trouble on though was 12, which ironically was one of the easiest on the course according to the stroke index. LOL

So I had a free Sunday afternoon (wife gone out of town = ME time ) and decide to grab a rare practice round on the weeks USE venue. Front nine was fugly at +3 even with 2 birdies. Back was a clean -5 with a chip in iggle and a chip in birdie to go with 2 regular birdies. Agree with JosiaDB that there are some places you don't want you ball to end up and putting can be adventurous on lots of those greens. Fantastic rendition. Let's rumble!

E - first round (2 birdies, 2 bogeys)
Call me a masochist (pun intended lol) but that's the kind of set up I really enjoy. Grinding for pars on a solid tough layout with the winds blowing. Started with a couple early birdies than just hung on the rest of the round. One bonehead missed shortie but otherwise a solid round, played smart. Just couldn't get a lot of birdie putts to drop.
Stat of the day - longest putt made 7.3 ft. Says it all!

darvaanYour post makes me a bit nervous to tee this one up. Another course that has eaten me up to test my game. Perhaps will tee it up tonight with the intent to make gavlaar124 chase me for a few rounds.

Oh, I'll set you a target. It might just happen that it is one you can reach easily. Lol.

Season 2 week 3 Results in Played at the scenic Fishers Island our members tore the course to pieces this week though it was off amateur tees but still some impressive displays. Congrats to gavlaar the first person to hit -40, colly comes in second at -37 and woody finishes third with -4 and also the lowest round of the week and possibly USE so far with a 58 in round 4. Well played everyone this week. Al tops this weeks handicap leaderboard with a great showing at -33, one shot back in second with a superb -32 is ChipsforAces. Another solid performance by Polekatt brings him 3rd place with -31 5 tournaments must be completed to feature on the handicap leaderboard

I have one day when I get back and then off on another trip! (A music festival.) And who knows what my internet will be doing... Not happy to lose ground so early in the season, but oh well. See you all soon!

Back in business at Oakland Hills! Another fantastic course! Played much better than expected and managed to use the slopes to my advantage on a number of holes. Just left a bad taste bogeying the last two holes. But they are hard, especially when not finding the fairway and greens....

I don’t think I have a single birdie on the back 9 through 2 rounds! The front 9 is where the scoring is for me, I’ve managed -3/-4 so far. I have had quite a few lucky bounces though and have been drilling long par putts that I typically miss, so I have that feeling like the wheels could come off at any time lol. Lots of stressful downhill putts, like the course a lot though as I prefer tougher ones.

It is a little fuzzy but I think I shot 1 over for the first round. I do know this course well and it is one of the best RCRs out there IMOP. Love the slopes on the greens. Royce did an amazing job on this one.
I have to admit I really enjoyed playing this way again after not playing for a while. Hopefully I can give some of the Xbox guys a run for their money.
