Before I officially start anything, I’d like to get an idea of how much the community would be interested in this.
If I remember correctly, it’s been since TGC1 that there was a large collab contest. Unfortunately, as PS4 and XB1 players are unable to share course files, this would only be available to PC designers, but other than that I feel having a bunch of collars being worked on would be great for the game!
This is the format I have so far, but if anyone has any ideas for improvements let me know:
Teams of 2 designers; two designers can choose to team up together, or individual designers can register and be put into random teams later. I’d say there should be a minimum of 8 teams (16 designers) for this to happen, and in order to minimize judging time, a maximum of 16 teams.
Each pair has 3 months to design the best course they can together. All communication and file sharing is up to them- as long as the course is published within the window, it's good to go.
No LiDAR as in my mind, judging LiDAR courses with the same criteria as non-LiDAR a courses is like judging apples and oranges based on the same criteria.
I'll assemble a team of 8-12 judges ranging from well-known designers and TGCT players, who will grade the courses using a specific criteria (but not necessarily the official TGCT ones) to select the best course.
I plan to make this a free-for all, rather than putting the courses in a bracket, if that makes sense.
My main concerns are a) I’m not sure if as many people will be interested as only PC designers can participate and b) as this is an unofficial contest, I really don’t want to step on the toes of the organizers of the official ones.
This is NOT a registration thread, so if this contest does happen, any entries here are not official. Last thing is that I’ve added a poll to the top of the post, so please vote in that to help me visualize how many people would be in this.
Thanks much, and I’ll keep you posted!
