Welcome all to Blackmuir Retreat (Tour). Edit Notes:So, due to a "clerical error", the correct version of the course is now available under the "Tour" moniker. When originally published Hole 2 came out as a Par 4, however throughout the designing process it was a Par 5. So please, when searching for the course in game please make sure to select the "Tour" edition, trust me you'd rather hole 2 be a par 5. Thanks to those who pointed this out, appreciate it. Anyways back to the story...Perched high above the Blackmuir Gorge waters, this dried out 18 hole golfing test is a tight long course with sand challenging almost every shot. Stay clear of the shrubs that line every hole, however you get the rough or bunkers as buffers for any wayward shots. Be smart with your club selection and your round will highly rewarding. Designers notes: This project was a huge headache due to one thing, and one thing only, the Object Meter. I got about 12 holes in and it was maxed out, mainly due to the scrubs. The original idea was to have the scrubs pretty thick, but I found out soon enough that that is out of the question. So throughout the rest of the design the scrubs were thinned out and in the end I wasn't really happy with how the scrubs worked out but the idea is still in effect. But... I am overall happy with the course regarding playability and the challenge it presents. I learnt a lot with this course and still keen to learn more, so any and all critique is welcome. Enjoy.

This is a work of art. LOVED every bit of it - the sand and the planting are incredible, the views from everywhere are amazing. Love the hole layouts, you really put a lot of thought into the routings, requiring the golfer to make decisions on every shot. The greens were on the more forgiving side, but that's fine, and offset by the approach distances in most cases. This is an all-around GREAT course.
On the grass, did you try using the Clear Generated Objects tool on all of your holes where you don't want any and then crank up the grass meter in the Terrain Settings? I know it wouldn't be the exact grass/look you wanted though, but it would fill in some of the density and save your object meter. (I'm guessing you already tried that, but thought I'd ask!)
Everyone needs to play this, what a beauty!

Thanks for noticing how the course of plays, it was a major focus for this course this time round. I didn’t do any of that clear generated object stuff but I totally understand how it would work, I’ll take that on board if I ever revisit theme. Cheers again!

Toughest course I've played in a while. Apart from a par 4 that was a bit too long it was solid all around. The par 4 in talking about I had a 9mph quartering headwind. I hit a boosted tee shot and a boosted 2 wd to end up hole high but off the green. I chipped in for birdie but having to pull off 2 risky shots to get there makes it seem like par 5 territory. Annnnd speaking of par 5s on 18 I drove it into another holes fairway off to the right and had an easy 6 iron on for am easier eagle than the birdie on the par 4 from earlier. Ended up -12 and am happy with that considering the challenge of this course. Back tees pin 2. I look forward to your next design. A no Mic stream of my playthrough is at

I tried to find a balance in the course, a couple short par 4s to make up for a couple of long ones, trying to push the limits a bit, but it can come down to the wind in the end. Definitely didn't design those short cuts in that you found . I guess that's the risk with a links designed course. Secrets out now! Glad you enjoyed the round though, was good to watch!

I gave this one a go.
Very challenging but all fair besides hole 2. That one should probably be a par 5. The greens were friendly but I couldn’t hit them in my bad round.
Really unique look to this one. I liked it. Number 9 was very scenic in particular and another hole along the cliff that hit into. Can’t remember the hole number.
I’m gonna give it another play to try and score better.
Thanks for making it. I enjoyed it.

Turns out there was a mistake regarding hole 2, that IS meant to be a par 5, it has been through the whole designing process, not sure how it ended up a par 4 after publishing!! I'll fix this one up and republish the next chance I get.

Thanks to those who made me aware of the issue with the second hole, it has been rectified and the course has been resubmitted as Blackmuir Retreat (Tour). A couple of other cosmetic changes were made to take better advantage of the courses design.

Check it out!
