Is it Phil "The Power" Taylor or Michael van Gerwen?
Been watching and reading up on darts the past month or so. Some say it's Taylor with 16 World Championships but he played in an easier time while van Gerwen only 30 years old already is the GOAT and most dominating player out there.
Thoughts?

Taylor currently by a long way - in terms of acheivement and dominating for 25 years.
But MVG is still young and has plenty of time to get a lot closer over the next 10-20 years - and is that step above all the others, the same as Taylor was.
However - MVG at his best beats Taylor at his best without question.

Went for Phil the Power. Have to give a tip of the cap to Eric Bristow before him. When I moved over to America Sid Waddell was on my flight a few rows back. I told the Mrs while we were waiting to board that he was on our flight, she wasn't impressed lol. Best darts player to appear on Top of the pops was this guy My brother goes to Ally Pally every Christmas with work for a booze up, don't think he dresses up though. Apparently he's taking his eldest son up to Blackpool next month for the Match play event.

Right now, it's Phil the annoying Taylor. MVG has the potential to get there tho... and when he's in the zone he's the best that's ever thrown.
Edit: went to the Premier League Cardiff event this year - full fancy dress - what a cracking night out. Can't recommend it enough if you ever get a chance.

MVG is more talented than Taylor.
But based solely on the numbers i have to say Taylor.
Worth noting he did rack up those titles in an era with far less competition though

Without Taylor there would be no pdc and no mvg... he is without doubt the goat, darts changed forever because of him. Don't get me wrong mvg is an amazing player with natural talent whereas Taylor had to work hard to achieve all that he did as he was not as naturally gifted

Too early to call Van G, yet.

Phil Taylor was beaten by the 13 year old BDO World Youth champion Leighton Bennett last week. Does that make Leighton Bennett an option?

Not sure what's more surprising - that he was beat by a 13 year old or the fact that he was beat by a BDO Champion....
