Victor arrived on the tee for the third round five shots behind Chris Rogers for the lead, so the pressure was essentially off, and all he had to worry about was staying ahead of the RV party group for this week’s bragging rights. He opened up a little slowly, but rattled off 8 straight birdie in the middle of the round and had another bogey-free card for a 60. The good news was that it moved Victor up to third on the leaderboard, but the bad news was that Chris Rogers and Mike Georgiades also shot flawless 60s as well, so Lane gained nothing on the two leaders. The winds were lower in the final round and the greens were rolling top speed, but that’s what Victor actually prefers as a former TGC Tours pro. Other than the missed birdie on hole 2, he rolled in a bunch of putts for a majestic Sunday 59, bringing him to -42 for the tournament, which won’t be enough for the win but should solidify another top five for the season. After the round it was time to head back to the villa to party with Darryl and the gang, while they watched Mike Georgiades finish round four on TV.

As Victor reviews his rounds from this week, he can’t help but regret the bogey on hole five of the tournament, and making only a par on three of the par fives this week. Without a doubt those shots will keep him from the win. Just then, he poured another cherry coke into his glass and added some Bacardi, while looking at next week’s venue - Dauphin Highlands. Victor has an inside track on this design and has high hopes to finally grab that BCT trophy!

Congrats to Chris Rogers (if it holds up today). Darryl will be gunning for more hardware next week back in the states at Dauphin. Things will be a little bit back to normal as Darryl already has a prime spot for a pre-tourney party. All are welcome to attend!

The best-laid plans of mice and men often go awry.
After a healthy practice session with "The Condiment" the rest of the crew and I headed to Anthony's villa. There was a lot of excitement as we arrived. Much oooing and aaaaahing over the fountains and frescoes around us. I played along adding my own "You don't see that every day" and "Well that's certainly a...statue..." to the proceedings. I only wanted to find my room.
I had begun to sweat and the shakes were kicking in. It had been too long. I made my excuses and found my way to a ground floor suite. The doors had sturdy locks. Good. I wasted no time in opening a new pack of tablets and downing a couple. That should take the edge off.
I lay on the bed and waited for night. The expected summons to dinner came but I ignored it and lay quiet. My meds were working their way into my system and my mind was clearing of the clutter from the day. I needed to let the process complete to make it through the meeting tonight.
Without warning the door burst open and a cacophony of laughter and bird emojis assaulted my ears.
"Shutup Victor. You know you love it" Darryl needlessly yelled.
"You bet I do! This stuff is great! Brian! Get up man...at least have a little snack. You're going to need your strength to keep up with me this week!" Victor said.
"Go away" I muttered.
It didn't work. Victor threw back the heavy curtains that blocked off the small patio and the low slanting sunlight shot unerringly into the tiny crack of my left eyelid and into my brain. Sheesh.
I sat up and sighed heavily.
"Here! Take this." Victor said as he shoved a plate under my nose.
I froze. What was this? Time slowed. Then it froze entirely. The flowing darkness on the plate before me had a sheen like the sweat on Victor's balding pate. Little dots of moisture speckled the surface of the substance. Had I made a mistake? Was my blind trust in this buffoon and his cohorts coming back to bite me?
"What...what is that...what is that victor..." I muttered.
"Dude it's just Nutella toast man. I know you dig hazelnuts and such so figured it would get you to eat something at least."
"...I...I need to pee" I said quickly as I spun off the bed and ran into the restroom.
I stood behind the door breathing heavily for a moment before running to the sink and turning the water on a trickle.
"I'll just leave it here man!" I heard Victor say. The guys shuffled their way noisily out of my room joking about statues missing appendages other than arms. No idea.
I shut off the water and peeked out into the bedroom...it was empty...but the plate was there on my bed. The toast. The...Nutella...
I slid around the door keeping myself as far from the bed as possible. I could stand here for a while. Just...stand. Calmly. But I needed to be at the institute in a few hours. The DNA origami research going on there was why I had come. Those little organic nano machines. The ones that I needed to adapt into the core of the new golf balls I'd been working on for years... I HAD to get there...but...that plate...
To get to the door I had to walk by that plate. I could do it. I COULD do it. I WOULD do it!
...... Four days later .....
"BRIAN! Come ON! we have to go!"
What? What was this? Why am I naked and...covered in...oh no. OH NO OH NO OH NO!!
I had fleeting visions of sun...sky...swinging clubs...rolling balls...bathtubs full of thick brown heaven...not again.
Weren't their laws here against this kind of thing!?!? I had failed. I had missed my chance at the institute. I had fallen...again...into the dark embrace of my personal Devil. The weakness that I had fought for so long. All I could remember was sub par golf and hazelnut chocolate fueled insanity. We had to go. I had to go. I couldn't stay here any more.
"I'll...I'll be right there Victor..."
I looked in my bag. Meds were all gone. Instead I had tub after tub after tub of the demon spunk... No no no no no... I left the bag and ran to the waiting car... My research had taken a hit...but a new week awaited

Starting the final round of the Mustang and Corvette Classic at -32, 3 shots off the leader Chris Rogers, with Marcus Mann and Victor Lane just one and two shots behind respectively. Mike would need a fast start and he got just that, birdieing 1 & 2 then holes 4 through 8 for a -7 back nine. Lane & Rogers had minus -5 and Mann a -4.
Now just 1 shot off the lead with Lane & Mann now 4 shots back, Mike would star off the back nine just like front birdieing 10 & 11 to now be tied with Rogers for the lead, not to be forgotten, Victor Lane & Marcus Mann had started to charge with Victor birdieing holes 10 through 15 and Mann holes 11 through 15, Mike would birdie 13 and with Rogers making birdies on 11, 13 & 15 we would have a 4 way showdown for the crown over the last 3 holes with Rogers holding a 1 shot lead over Georgiades, with Lane & Mann a further 1 and 2 shots back respectively, with pressure on all four competitors we would only see a further 2 birdies between the four by the time Mike stepped onto the 18 green. Victor had birdied 17 and Mann 18 while Rogers shot par on the last 3 and could only watch on as Mike would try to sink his 28ft putt to claim his maiden BCT title, Mike hit the putt to see it tracking for the hole, only for it to fall a foot short and hand a jubilant Rogers his 2nd BCT tour win of the season. Asked later how he felt, Mike replied gutted, absolutely gutted. A pat on the back from Victor and walk back to the party bus to commiserate what could have been for Mike and Victor.
Congratulations to Chris Rogers on the win, to good throughout the week.

Congratulations Chris!
Victor Lane is riding high after another runner-up finish, and he feels confident that one of these weeks will be his.
Victor and the gang boarded Jeremy’s charter flight back to the U.S. to travel to Harrisburg Pennsylvania, site of this week’s event at Dauphin Highlands Golf Club. Perhaps this will be the week for Lane, as Dauphin was designed for the game by good friend Eric Nesbit, so he’s played the course many times. That will either work in his favor, or put more pressure on him, but Victor is hoping it proves to be an advantage.

Hmm, there seems to be some confusion in the scorers tent after the tournament. It appears that Chris Rogers has won both the BCT and the CC-A this week. There has been an inquiry submitted to Doyley for gamertag clarification.

Oh my, Victor Lane had already made the flight home when he was contacted by tour officials that he HAD in fact won the tournament! The trophy is in the mail.
