The line of succession has held. Netflix today set a June 7 premiere date for Season 3 of Designated Survivor, the D.C. drama starring Kiefer Sutherland that the streaming service picked up in September after ABC had canceled it.

Thank you for the heads up on this cliffs !! I don't follow a lot of news, so I had no idea season 3 had came out. We got in three episodes this week.

Not sure about the "adult" language though. It just seems weird to me that shows/actors on a tv show, are starting to sound like the rest of us.
Hopefully they won't get to deep into "dirty" politics.
Can you imagine if DT watched this and saw them cancel another candidates campaign stop. Bet his first words would be...we can do that?

Just started watching this. Binged watched season 1s 21 episodes in 2 days. Great stuff. Season 2 is strange, goes completely off the rails for me. Like the writing becomes insane. The afgan one and the ship in foreign waters eps are laughably unrealistic. I'll continue anyways as I'm keen to see if they fix it for season 3.

I watched episode 1 season 1 and came to the conclusion that this series would be massively overblown and far fetched. Never bothered with episode 2.

*shrugs* its no more unrealistic than everything else on TV and movies. LOL
cliffs yeah, the sudden 'adult' language is weird. Its not so much that I mind it, and I get that now they are on Netflix and can say more, its just weird because we got used to the characters personalities, and just weird that they ALL would suddenly start using language like that, in the story. Just because you 'can' do or get away with something does not necessarily mean you should. All the characters suddenly cursing because they are on Netflix is like going in a place in the summer time and freezing to death. Just because you have an air conditioner available doesn't mean you have to run it full blast. LOL

Finally finished watching season 3 last night, cliffs
I have some gripes about it for sure.
Trying not to spoil anything- -already mentioned the adult language. Not really against it, as much as I just thought it was out of character for ALL the characters to suddenly have potty mouths. -a lot of stuff, even though its ok these days to allude to it, I don't wanna see it. -I thought a lot of stuff other than the language was out of character. didn't really agree with how they wrapped it. Well, I can see what they were saying, and how it happens, but it would not have in the first two seasons. Point made, but not in character, they jumped the shark and didn't need to, if that makes sense. -and I felt really sorry for Emily. Don't care how bad the disease is, her mom was the epitome of selfish B-. If you truly love your kid, you'd never put them through THAT, and make them do that, especially then.
Grats Netflix, you took a show that was 10/10 for two seasons and made it into about a 6.5, and made me not care if I watch any more of it.

From the title of the thread to this:
Netflix giveth (seriously, they're producing original shows at a rapid rate) and Netflix taketh. Two more shows now join the list of canceled Netflix originals: Designated Survivor and Tuca & Bertie.

Does not surprise me. Every single person I know in real life, that watched the first two seasons on ABC, and loved the show, then watched the Netflix season 3, said they were done with it, and would not watch any more seasons on Netflix.
The producers just don't get it. The show was great, it showed current issues, but presented them in a way where it was not pushing either side of the issue, it was just showing you the issue, and very nicely presented both sides views in an informative way, where the viewer was able to understand exactly why each side would think the way they did.
Netflix took this formula, and although they "say" they were continuing it, they were not. The show, under Netflix, was just another passive aggressive attempt at pushing certain issues and agendas on the viewer. But viewers are generally smarter than producers these days. They can sense that stuff, no matter how subtle. And thats not what most people want in a TV program.
No wonder it got canceled.
