I can't understand exactly the point, I fear, sorry. For what concerns me, I'm just a cc-c player and I have exactly your problems (just bigger), more or less.
And is quite obvious that I was not talking about the players at my level or just slightly better. My thought was about the PGA tour (mainly), and was not based on my skills or on my scores.
To understand of what I'm talking about, forget my and your score and problems, for a moment, but give just a look to the scores of the guys who plays the PGA Tour on courses like Pebble Beach or,maybe the best example to understand of what I'm talking about, Augusta.
The level of those guys is so high that we can say every par is like a bogey. And a good number of those players seems to think that this is boring, after a while. And i agree.
Please note also that, to "fight" a bit this situation, usually they are "forced" to play almost every round, on almost every tournament, generally always with high wind and very firm and very fast conditions. And again, someone think that is after a while is boring. If not unrealistic. And again, I agree.
And things go if is possible even worst when we speaks about the majors (just look the greens conditions at the Open. Funny, tough, but totally unreal). No talking about the Us Open.
Now..is obvious that, after all, this is a videogame, then is impossible to pretend that a birdie can be incredibly hard to achieve, but tweaking a bit the options, maybe it could be possible to have a tour a bit harder. With no need to play the TST to have a bit of realism more.
Consider also that, right now, between the web tour and the PGA tour there's no difference in setup. And I think that it would be fair and more enjoyable (if not logic), to create some difference between this tours. First, to give the feeling of some change to those guys who gains a promotion. And second, to help to have the best players in the best tour and to offer the chance to use some variety on the setting of the tournaments.
But, above all this, I'll be never tired to repeat that a change as it could be the shutoff of the scout cam on PGA tour, would be a great thing not mainly about the score (for what I experienced personally, with a bit of practice the difference in the scores is not so huge, at all), but simply about the add of some realism more. And the chance to play a course (especially the real courses, that are ripped on this tour, generally) in the way it is intended to be played by the architect.
I don't pretend that anyone share this idea, but is simply what I think.
I firmly believe that if we should play the Euro tour with no scout cam and the PGA tour with no scout cam and no lie grid, we could have :
1) scores a little bit more realistic.
2) the chance to appreciate more the courses we play.
3) differences between our 3 pro tour.
4) more realism on the game's strategy.
5) more variety available in the settings used on every round of every tournament.
6) Deeper selection of our best players cause (7), anyone would be forced to improve his game to stay competitive.
And, maybe the best part of this, I can't see negative things, in these changes. Who plays our pro tour are mainly people full involved in the game in such a way that allows to menage all these changes, for sure.
Someone could be unhappy at the start, but I can bet that after some week the majority of the players would be really happy and satisfied with these changes.
Who can't manage the change, would means simply that is no good enough to play at the best level and is not a problem, cause we have different levels exactly for this.
But in the end, exactly cause I'm just a cc player, I think that this kind of proposal should be made by some PGA player, to have some sense.
And considering that nobody seems to be interested, probably it means that after all they prefers to play every week on stormy days and concrete greens. Who am I to say otherwise?
