We got our Hope when she was about 10 weeks old. She has been run over by a car @ 6 weeks and lost her right rear leg. We just couldn't say no when we saw her. After 14 (98)years of living the good life it was time to say good bye. It is one of the hardest things you have to do and I have had to do it twice now. Making that call knowing that it is only getting worse watching them fight and struggle everyday. You hold out that they will pull through and turn the corner but old age is a bastard! I know many of you have been in this same situation and I sympathize and empathize with all of you. This is our Hope........ Please have a drink and toast to all our furry family friends that we love so much! We love you Hope!

Sorry to hear this Koop. Dogs really are a members of the family but unfortunately as pet owners we all sign ourselves up to go through this. It's the good times and the memories with them that make it all worth it. It sounds like she had a great life and lots of love!
I'll be raising a glass for Hope later tonight to cheers the joy she brought you and your family and for the joy all pets bring to their owners.
I'm going to need a drink anyway after taking my 2 two year old pups to the vet later...
Cheers! -Justin

So sorry for your loss. I have a 6 year old staffy/boxer that i got when I stopped working, she’s my best mate and constant companion. She’s sleeping on my lap as I write this (she thinks she’s small).
They say dogs go over the rainbow bridge and wait for you to turn up one day, it’s a comforting thought.
Hoisted a drink, shed a tear thinking of how much you must be hurting mate, condolences.

Ah man Deepest sympathies. Making that call, for an animal that can't do it for itself, is a huge responsibility; you did the right thing. Dogs are amazing. The bond with humans is a truly special thing. The memories of that bond are the thing to focus on now

Sorry to hear that Jason, it's a tough call because at the end of the day they are family. I know what it's like to lose a dog and might have to do it again in the future.
But the joy they bring for years is worth it.

Sorry to hear the news buddy! Dogs are a part of the family and it's so sad when something bad happens to them.
Keep your head up!

Our condolences to your family Koop. That's heartbreaking man. Hope looks like she had a wonderful life being part of your family and lived a long, happy, healthy life.
It is amazing how much we love our dogs and how much they love us back.

My condolences, Koop. Hope is absolutely gorgeous. Your heart must be breaking. We have a 10-year-old pomchi who’s getting extra snuggles today. Every once in a while my mind settles on the fact that our day is coming at some point as well. Don’t know how I’m gonna find the strength to get through that tbh. Sounds like Hope filled your heart and then some — the best gift she could have given you. And the caring home you provided for her was the best gift ever for her.

Our family has had to lay to rest 4 dogs over the years and it never is an easy thing to do. We said no more dogs but dogs truly know how to make one feel special. We have a Lab right now who is long in the tooth and I tell her everyday she is the best.

just saw this.
I've owned dogs all my life so I know what you are going through.
All the best, and you did well. you gave Hope 14 years of a great life. Then took the proper responsibility when it was time.

It is a tough thing to go through, especially when the dog is truly a part of your family. Hope, had a great life thanks to you and your family.
I lost Xena, (my avatar) 18 months ago and still think of her.
