I have to think there’s advice on this somewhere. Perhaps someone could direct me there If there is.
I’m about to make the jump from cc to pro leagues. Any advice on how to read winds when the specific number is taken out of the equation?
I’d think there’s similar people in my situation so any advice would be much appreciated.

There is still a visible meter, it just doesn't show you the number.

Half full is 13 mph, and just remenber the gauge top and bottom do not start there. For instance 1 is a little off the bottom and 24 is a little before the top.

If you don’t mind, could I ask you to expand on this? i have the wind arrow showing, but no wind speed indicator. There is a little box beside it that is always fully coloured in. What wind is that? I’ve been playing it as 10mph.

Now if I could just figure out how to putt with no green grid. Seems like every straight putt bends, and every putt I think has a break goes straight.

Sounds like real golf!
The biggest help for me is getting a mental picture of the predominant slopes of the green from the farther away camera shots (e.g. the hole flyover or when the approach shot is landing)

You’re right. It is as frustrating as IRL. My problem is reading putts under 6-8 feet. You can’t really get an idea of surrounding terrain. The putter head tells me the putt should break left to right, but it goes the opposite. Having said this, true sim is awesome. I’ve been not really enjoying shooting sub 60 rounds. I’m now playing the solo Society with all aids turned off, and medium difficulty.

One more question: With scout cam off, obviously off the tee you’re relying on the overhead pic and the fly over. When driving, I believe the game automatically orients your body for middle of fairway. Then it’s up to you to account for wind, bunkers and so on. Let’s say you’re on a long par 5. You’ve hit drive to middle of fairway, but second shot needs to be a layup. Are you automatically setup for middle of fairway, or are you pointed always towards the green? Hope that made sense.

A lot of the time it won’t line you up correctly for the fairway, so be careful of that. The pin (marker) should always be visible, if you go to the overhead it will show where you are on the fairway - you should be able to work it out from there.

Thank you...that’s what I figured. Amazing how different it is playing a tight course with narrow fairways and no scout camera. A lot more layup shots than usual...just like my real game.
